List of engines that will fit into the MK3?

I'm curious. I wonder what kind of engines would fit into the focus. Size, displacement, cylinders. Maybe even a direct swap with mounts and harness.

Is it possible to put a V6 in it? Something from a mustang possibly? Lol

Likely cheaper to do the ST engine swap since it's been done on several cars here but outside that no other engine has been attempted so you'd likely have to be the first.

On a serious note, all MK3 power plants would be 'simple' transplants, other things like a VR6 and 4 cyls from other makes could probably be made to fit without removing important bits of the car with the resources and time, bigger engines like a VQ35 from an Altima or Maxima, the J series from Honda, or one of GM's transverse V8s or supercharged 3.8L would likely require some 'love' to come close to fitting.

Would be a fun novelty, but outside of an ST or RS swap, it's kind of oddball idea, but I've seen some crazy things.

The effort also depends on what you want to use the car for. If you want a drag or track toy then it becomes a lot more viable. Especially when you go down the standalone EMS route where OEM ECU, electrics and comforts aren't an issue.

How about older duratec and zetec motors like a 2.3 cosworth motor? Think it's possible? How about the Volvo 5 cylinder from the mk2 RS? Or a duratec V6? From the contour?

I'd start w/ a mk1/1.5 & then do a 23/25.

Well the mk1 chassis is smaller than the MK3 so is in theory you should be able to stick a bigger motor in the engine bay. Right?
