What filter to use.

Not sure what route exactly to go. Should I buy a CAI system or just do the snorkel delete and drop in? Thinking the snorkel delete is alot cheaper but if I go that route do I get a green filter? And if so should I use a prefilter as well? My Focus is my daily driver for a 70 mile commute so I definitely don't want to lose any MPG and a gain would be great.

We can't make up your mind for you. There is plenty of discussion of each setup if you do some searching.

I run AEM w/ snorkel delete, and it cost me $39. It's the cheapest way, and I can see results. In my opinion, the best set-up would be either the dry-flow open ended filter with the cap option, or the K&N open ended with the cap option.

AEM doesn't make an open ended filter, it's just the cheapest route. Green Filter, and K&N seem to be the most popular of the open ended filters, and they cost extra to add the cap. Sorry for not being more specific.

I did the Snorkel delete with the K&N filter that i bought at AutoZone. I have the air box cover off as well some advise against it but I've not had any issues and its been like that for two years. I HIGHLY recommend cleanable air filters

I personally don't like oiled filters, so I went with an AEM DryFlow filter. AEM claims the filter is engineered by K&N, and that is obvious by looking closely at it - "K&N" is molded in the rubber ring that mounts the filter to the air box.

They are the same company since K&N bought AEM in 2010. I suspect they keep the brand names and product types (oiled, dry) separate simply to uphold product recognition and brand loyalty.
