so i just recently bought the short throw from ford racing for five speed foci.
ford racing short throw shifter m-7210-fs-img_2062.jpg

so i went ahead and installed it today.. taking off interior panels and moving the center console was a bear. but i got it out..

got the shorter one in and went for a drive.. the feel is ten times better than the stock shifter..

Did you order some solid bushings with it? Makes a nice change in the way the car gets in gear.

I think you may have just solidified my next purchase. Been wanting something to clean up some shifter slop on my car.

Any info on the installation? Easy enough to do at home?

install was pretty straight forward. ford racing has instructions online. removing interior panels was somewhat easy. but its just take the sloppy stock one out and put short clean one in, hook up the cables and make sure the shifter is free and you select all the gears then put all the panels back. that simple.. i did it at home. no problem

I'm pretty sure you could use this in conjunction with the steeda short throw bracket and get a total of 65% reduction in throw...
Mind you, with that much reduction, the shifts would probably be noticeably harder, and more of a novelty then useful. Unless of course you rebuilt your trans as a dog box and was draging the car almost exclusively. For some reason, I don't think that's the case haha

as much as i want a novelty item, the shifter is fine for my style of driving. plus i have to save some money for the ford racing exhaust and finally install my e-rmm..

The E-RMM with short shifter and solid bushings make a very nice Daily driver. Top this with a tune and it becomes a pretty great car.
