Simple Tuning

SO, maybe this kind of thing does not exist anymore or maybe its just not promoted here. Back when i first started driving there were tuners and chips that were vehicle specific that were easy to deal with. just plug and go. If you needed to take it back to the dealership, just go back to standard or remove chip and you were good. Now im seeing where its pay big money, call there people tell them things, make sure you have a laptop to take to the car, make sure you are in wifi range. seems crazy. Please for the love of Henry Ford tell me there are more options for the MK3 focus. I want something that is going to remove the rev limiter speed gov if there is one and all that. if i have to pay more and sacrifice some power to avoid some strange interactions with someone with paypall and over the phone i would. Thanks in advance

Those days are over friend - tuning the ecu now that they are all well capable is the way to go. You are still able to reflash stock tunes and remote support for tuning is very simple. You'll need the laptop and Internet but only when you send the logs so, when you get back home (or to some place with wifi). You can opt for a plug and play device which is ultimately the most simple method but you're still flashing the ecu. There aren't chips for this car.

Thanks for the reply my man. I guess tuning a car is going the way of working on your own car. they make it harder and harder all the time for individual to work on their own car.

Its all much easier then it sounds , It isnt as bad as it sounds and in the end you get a better tune , can sell your flasher if you sell your Focus , get free tune updates as you add more NA mods etc

Whatever you decide, DON'T go for one of the advertised 'chips".

That is a scam preying on those who remember tuning by changing a chip in the ECU. The 'chips" sold hook up to the MAF and only give a temporary change until the PCM can compensate for them. You "butt dyno" may not notice as it slowly returns to stock from the small change they initially cause. (Often result in CEL's as well)

Back in the day . Some of those so called chips were blank EEPROMS that made the car go in open loop.
