Cams

Sooo while looking up parts from a ford dealer the the 2.3 duratec camshafts intake and exhaust are the same part numbers as ours and valve springs and retainers are the same..... So with little to no modification aftermarket cams will fit into out heads. Idk what this will do to ti-vct stuff though!

If this is correct, you'd just need a custom tune for the Ti-VCT and aftermarket cams would probably work fine. Very interesting.

Unfortunately, I don't think that this is correct. Ford uses part number place holder of 6250 for their camshafts for the Focus (on the fordparts.com website), but they are actually different whole part numbers. I was looking into getting Crower Stage 1 camshafts as an upgrade based on the assumption that they were the same, but when I looked further into the stock part numbers for the intake and exhaust cams, I found this:

2007 2.0/2.3L
DN1Z-6250-A
3S7Z-6250-BA

2012 2.0L
CP9Z-6250-E
CP9Z-6250-D

This doesn't necessarily mean that the Crower cams wouldn't fit the Ti/VCT motor, but I don't want to grenade a perfectly good engine on a maybe. I've been waiting on tuning my car until I can swap out the cams on this engine and it seems that I'll have to wait a little longer.

Someone really needs to get a set of both and compare them. It would be awesome if they could be swapped.

Much of that is in the service manual that you can download. The link is in one of the stickies. The cams act directly on fixed buckets. Clearance is adjusted by different bucket thickness, something to take into account if you're going to change cams. Not sure if lift/timing specs are there. DL the manual and take a look.

I've seen used cams for sale on ebay from a 2012 Focus (intake and exhaust). I suppose someone could buy them and send them to Crower for analysis and regrind....

Cams would make a BIG difference in this car. We need specialized cams as they need to have the notches for the cam position sensor (one for each) AND have the ability to fit the VVT piece (might be ok, trying to rember the install on my MS6).

I'm guessing our lift is fairly low and have a semi long duration.
