Blown engine at 35000 miles

I'm running a Steeda CAI and the FSWerks stealth exhaust. I noticed a tapping in the valve train as soon as I installed the Steeda CAI at low Rpm high torque loads. Went and did an auto cross day at a local track and got six runs in before my engine started rapping like a diesel. Made it half wat home and it died. I checked the oil and she was bone dry. The dealer tore it apart and found that it melted part of the drivers side piston. Their best guess is that the injector hung up and dumped fuel into the cylinder. It bent all 4 valves. Ford is covering it under warranty and I am getting a whole new long block.

Wow ... I haven't heard that happen before.

But glad to hear that Ford is covering it for you. That's very nice of the warranty.

Deftmetal just had his done under warranty. I don't recall the specifics. Another auto-x'er set a rod free out-of-warranty...

Does anybody know how much is stock air box costs in case I have the samething happen and have to go back to stock to get warranty coverage. I'm thinking they would try and put blame on New Mission mod.

In order to get the lower half of the box, you have to order part number BV6Z-9600-A. That is the entire airbox to include the MAF sensor and filter. Your dealership will probably charge around $182.63 or you can create an account with Village Ford and get it for around $128.21 + $7.95 shipping. Go ahead, ask me how I know

My engine was replaced at 22766km or regular not very agressive driving for a hole melted threw one of the pistons. I started noticing oil loss at 12000km so it happened before then. Not sure exactly when because I didn't check oil after initial delivery until then.
