I have a 2013 Focus SE am trying to maximize horsepower. i already have a cold air intake. what ways do you all reccomend to boost performance cheaply?
I recommend first using the search function on the forum to find information that has already been covered 50,000 times.
Second I advise you to remember that this is a Ford Focus, not exactly a performance vehicle. You probably got all of none horsepower from that intake. Probably none from the exhaust as well.
Good luck.
Someone's bitter. Actually people are gaining +20 hp from intake and exhaust alone. Add a header and you could break 180 whp which is very respectable to me.
^ I think everyone is interested in finding out if this this true. A tune would be a long awaited thing! I hope this is for real! Who or where did you here this from?
Now now lyonsroar, let's not scare the new guy off! Search button is our friend though
First off, welcome to Focus Fanatics! As the others have said, the best way to get a bit more enjoyment out of your ride for relatively low cash would be an exhaust system. There will be other stuff coming (ecu tune, header) and those will be good to watch for. They may already make a header, but I'm not sure. For a great source of Focus parts, check out fswerks.com! They're probably the best vendor of aftermarket stuff out there.
And while it's true that no naturally aspirated focus will ever be a horsepower monster, but they can be a heck of a lot more to drive than stock!!
1.) Welcome Lukefocus. The search tool is your friend.
2.) Lyopnsroar: Why does a GTI owner hang around a Focus site? And why are you wisecracking about the Focus. Good old American hotrodding, to make cars high(er) performance.
3.)TKE421: You have to sustantiate news like that (a tune coming). That is very sensitive right now.

Basically what I'm telling you is you're not going to boost performance cheaply and keep a reliable car. I/E are your best places to start currently and there is a header or two that will work. There's a huge thread about the header.
Until you fry your piston rings with a 100 shot lol
Joking aside, no, it would not be cheap to use nitrous all the time. Also, it is illegal in most states, unless this car never gets driven on public roads.
hell yeah he is. These mk3's are very restricted and if you let them breathe they open up really well. I didnt notice any real gains from my cat back exhaust but when I put on the K&N it really opened it up.
So I've been doing some looking around this sure and I have come to 3 typical suggestions on upgrades. Intake, exhaust and headers. But what have people done performance wise beyond this. Im looking to bump up horsepower and torque. Any other suggestions? I realize that this is a new car and there aren't many aftermarket performance products out there yet.
I meant moderators, please come in and clean up this thread and make it look presentable to any guest who may be curious about how to maximize horsepower in their brand new focus. I would hate to see a new user go elsewhere because a few people's bickering.
But yes, i/e/h has worked wonders for me!! I agree!
Do the snorkel delete and a K&N, and start saving money if you want to do more than that.
A grand and a couple weekends could get you breathing a little better.
A 50 shot of nitrous if you only want a once in a while boost when you need it might not spray $100 bills in the form of melted internals out of your bottom end.
You probably can turbo without a tune, up to a modest boost, but your probably gonna eat an engine or two working it all out cause it's all trial and error, mostly error.
Or maybe you can figure out how to transplant a mazda CX-9 into a focus?
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
