My buddy was the first in the USA to crack the Lotus ECU when they came back a few years ago. While he didn't mind tuning on a dyno, he always preferred flogging the car on the streets and out in the middle of nowhere with his laptop.

I prefer road tuning for everything except dialing in your timing. My mustang was dyno tuned and the the car was running its best at WOT but drove like shit everywhere else.

I datalogged all my runs at the strip in my Eclipse and datalogged my normal street driving and just tuned out the knock which netted me solid results since AWD dynos weren't all that common and were pricey to run.

Other than dialing in a precise timing curve, it's my opinion that road tuning far surpasses all other forms. If you've ever drove a car that was road tuned by someone who knows what they're doing... you'll definitely understand.

Thread revival!

Howdy y'all, I just bought a new focus n stuff yesterday. Love the info I've read so far. . I want to get the superpack from steeda, but I'm scared and curious as a focus and tuner car noob. .

Maybe you can help me, Red. Long term analysis of your system? Any issues or tips if i choose to go that route? Also Power increase typically translates into MPG increase. Obviously theres a million ways to increase mpg, but I'm wondering, to your knowledge have you seen an improvement in day to day mpg?

More mods = less mpg, generally. Intake will be more power, but more air, thus increasing air fuel ratio and lowering mpg
