Is it possible to use a larger catch can so it doesn't need to be emptied so often? I've never had the need to use one, but for reasons that have been stated this car seems like an excellent candidate for one.

Not that is will be comparing apples to apples but the 5.0's that have installed catch cans are catching quite a bit of oil in them; I installed one of these on my 03 Cobra-FI, I realize that-but caught quite a bit of oil. I had one on my 2010 GT-FI-before I swapped intake manifolds and then went to open breathers on both valve covers. With the hood open and the car idling I was shocked at how much oil vapors came out of the breathers.

I spoke with Jay Tucker-owner of JLT and he created/produces catch cans for the mustang world about it, showed him the engine, we talked about it and he recommended keeping an eye on how oily the return line off the back of the cover that goes into the intake gets.

I had a catch can in my 2005 300C and it was surprising how much oil would get caught in there. Every oil change, would require a dumping.

Just saw this thread, normally don't visit this section.

Rat Fink, did you install a catch can yet? I think this idea has merit. I spent a lot of time researching MINIs before we ordered our Focus. The MINI folks are having a terrible time, and catch can installations are getting popular. I am interested to see if/how yours is working.

Yes. You might have to remote mount somewhere. I was limited to a smaller size due to installing inline with the Pcv system. When I installed mine I look at the next size up oil/water separator and it looked too big. Didn't want to get too crazy extra hoses to remote mount as well. I'm sure there are metal ones available on eBay or something.

Not yet, I'm going to wait until my first oil change to see what the PCV system looks like as far as oil injestion goes, and see if it'll be worth installing one. Also searching around on the net to see which one will be best based on the design and the room we have under our hoods.

Doesn't seafoam take care of this too? I'm not too technical on the inside of engines.
