Will a standard emissions intake from an 08-09 fit in a 11 pzev?

I found a good deal on a standard emissions 08-09 oem intake and I was wondering if I could swap it out and then just drop in a k&n filter for some carb legal bolt on fun. I really need to get rid of my "lifetime unit" just passed 60k

It'll bolt right on, but it won't be CARB legal.

But with other years using replaceable filter intakes only an expert would know it wasn't stock.

At 60k your original is likely fine, unless it's had a lot of desert dirt road use.

I actually just took a closer look at mine for the first time. Kind of ashamed. Looks like the dealer had a standard emissions one installed on my "PZEV" model all along. It has clips on the box and a replaceable air filter. Went to an auto parts store and got a new air filter and got an automatic 10% boost in MPG after taking the entire thing out and cleaning all of the leaves and bugs out of the bottom of the box. I wonder if the dealer could get in trouble haha. Gotta take my stickers off now, not so PZEV after all...

Could be bone stock that way, and still be a PZEV.

Changeover to replaceable elements was made during MkII production & I don't know the when in what model year.

The only true PZEV component was a small charcoal canister in the intake to absorb fuel vapor that might be in the intake when stopped, and release it again in operation. Just learned that little tidbit recently.

The lifetime part of it was a separate brainstorm to avoid a serviceable emissions part on the CA emissions cars (like mine).

How to replace the filter was just asked about a car only a bit older than yours in the General Chat section, still haven't found out what the OP has despite pictures of each style posted.

I'll link those here in a sec. for your interest in the differences.

Here:how to replace air filter o 2008 focus
