If you mod your motor, you'd see some mpg & performance. What mods have you done? Could be part of the problem= sunroof= excess weight at the top of the vechicle & making the alt. run more w/ your seat heaters. When I got my car, I said no reds & sunroofs.

Just a Steeda intake. Slightly lighter wheels than stock. I shift at 2,500 or even lower depending on the gear. I rarely rev it up since the gearing is already pretty short and the torque is easy to reach. My driving is nearly all backroads, hilly and around 35 mph. So it isn't a very good place to bang out high milage.

I rarely use the heated seats. Women love them though, like a cat to a warm laptop.

most mods posted so far (wheels, tunes, catbacks) would never pay for them selves in fuel.
aside from basic maintencance, driving style and aerodynamics pay the most dividends.

I've been all over it before.

Thanks for the link.

Im hoping that when spring hits, the MPG will go back up to what it was. If it doesnt then im going to have to assume it was the wheel weight that hurt my MPG.

I think its funny from my viewpoint. I have a 2002 SPI and i regularly get 30 mpg. In town or on the highway, or on the country roads. I would have thought for sure there would be a huge difference in mpg between a 2002 and 2012 but i guess not. 2012's are better because newer but they are more expensive to fix and seem to have more bugs with the computers.
Ha not that the SPI engine concept is any better.

Smile 50 mpg

If i reset the trip computer while at stand still then drive one mile or so before getting on the freeway then I usually max out at 50.4 mpg using cruise control over the courses of driving about 20 miles with a half a tank of gas with the spare tire and jack removed. I have the fan and the radio on but not the ac usually. I can average about 33 mpg in the city when I really try. I usually drive with the windows closed. I reset the computer to get a good idea of the average mpg for that trip. By the way my 2008 Focus SES automatic is compleletly stock with no upgrades at all. My tires are Falken Ziex ZE-612+ set at the max PSI of 51. Spark plugs Autolite copper 103's gapped at .055. My numbers are a mystery to me. I don't understand how I am able to achieve those numbers that far exceed the EPA ratings. Questions and comments are welcome. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/i...mile_thumb.gif

When I do a battery pull I'll get better mileage for about a tank of gas, then it drops. I can even tell the drivetrain is more comfortable after disconnecting the battery. I'm not sure why. I'm hoping a tune will stop any ECU "learning", maybe that'll keep my mileage a little more consistent ..... Or..... It's all placebo and i have no idea wtf is going on :P. Either way, a tune is on the soon to do list.

50 mpg

Maybe my numbers have something to do with the fact that mine is a 2008. Maybe there is something different about that year that makes it easy to hit 40 mpg.

My '11 is easy to hit 40MPG on any sort of trip. Drove to Vermont and back last summer on the highway and averaged 43MPG. Not too bad.

I switched to all season tires instead of the Hankook Optimo Oe tires - that took a chunk out of gas mileage.

However, I noticed I get a solid 2MPG increase if I use 91Ethanol Free gas or 93 octane (with Ethanol).
