Well I have the SES front bumper and I never added foglights lol. So mine sits right there. It couldnt hurt I suppose. I would assume that at speeds it may help to do so because the air would flow right into the filter. It would be minimal but it wouldnt make less that way I know that much

You don't have to be dumb to hydro lock a car. I hydro locked mine cutting through a parking lot. The lights on the block top paved lot made it look like there was no large parking lot dip with roughly 2-3 feet of water. Looked like it was just wet blacktop. Surprise. Killed the ignition, pushed the car out, pulled plugs, pumped water out cylinders, put my extra (dry) plugs back in, turned over a few times then it seized. BUT....insurance cost for engine replacement was $150, they even re-did the BS delete. And I still run the intake (Cosworth). Shit can happen, just saying.

If I were you, I'd run the intake. Get an idea of where the filter is and that'll give you an idea of what puddles require you to turn around and take a different route. Better to be safe the sorry. Get an idea of what your insurance specs are as well. Hydro lock fell under a "naturally occurring" hazard, and they will replace the engine regardless of the mods done.....State Farm at least. My agent said I could have had a twin turbo $20000 modded Vette with a really low intake and they'd have to replace it.

Really, thats interesting to know. I have state farm too. I have had no issues with my intake to date. but I have a hurricane heading my way lol so maybe I will get to try it out.

If your still worried about it if you get 100% nylon stockings you can wrap that around the filter for extra cheap protection. I ran a cold air on my Mustang in the fender without a inner fender cover and never had any issues with it. I'd get to work some mornings and it would be dripping soaked wet.

This would only help water proof the filter from a spray/splash effect. Stockings wouldn't help if the filter was under water. I do understand what you are saying though. I noticed a big difference when I replaced the badly beat up Cosworth filter (Cotton/K&N style) with an AEM Dryflow (synthetic material). Driving in heavy rain on the highway with a lot of water spray and even when washing it you can see it repels water pretty well.

Ive seen that much snow in mine between cleveland and columbus...you have to remember that on the 05+ they have that splash shield built under the bumper to the front fender liners. so you may be plowing snow but snow isnt as fluid as water and its not going to fill up he cavity the same to cause hydro lock like driving into 4 -5" of water. Even then, im not sure how much moisture would be sucked through the filter element if snow was packed around it...id think you would starve the car of o2 before sucking up snow.

Hmm okay. My friend has a 2010 with the fswerks and I just got an AEM true cold for my 2013 so we are in the same boat lol. We both made it through extreme rain storms, so snow is all thats left.
