Sri help

Okay what is this tube going from the valve cover to intake? I want to get rid of the oem elbow and make it look a little more "aftermarket" can I take this hose off and add a breather filter to the valve cover?

Nope.

On the duratec that's what's called "metered air" that ends up in the cylinders through the PCV system. It's already been measured as intake air by the MAF.

Removal as mentioned would be like creating a large vacuum leak, you could only do it IF the PCV to intake was also run to a catch can system instead of into the intake.

Buy a catch can with 2 inlets, beather and drain. Disconnect PCV from vacuum source (under/behind intake manifold). Cap vacuum source to prevent another vacuum leak. Extend hose to catch can. Run hose from nipple on valve cover to other port on catch can. Check for oil collection periodically.

If the Focus PCV is spring loaded, it would be best to gut the PCV in the process.

Keep in mind that engine seals and other components are designed to work with the slight vacuum of the PCV system...oil foams less under vacuum for instance.

Also, by the time you get done plumbing in your new catch can you are going to have a lot more hose in the way junking up the engine compartment.

Yup, added crap under the hood and additional maint. for draining the catch can regularly.

Fine when needed, but an added PITA when not.
