Stealth cai 05 2.0 duratech

So about a week ago I kept questioning around the fourms about. Cali leagal cai or Sri for my 05 2.0 duratech.. Couldn't really get an answer except for the stealth cai I looked around for that for a few days. Finally got in contact with another member on here and he told me pretty much super easy and the way to go... So I went ahead and looked into more and more, I previously hydrolocked my motor back in December of 14 , finally getting a new motor I didn't want to have the issue again so I went ahead and and looked found the stealth cAi part 2 around on the web, then I noticed a picture this guy had posted, the air filter sat in the engine bay and that's exactly what I was looking for. So I went down and got my self a specter filter and got the maf housing cut down to allow the filter to fit in there snugly end result was this...

After getting it all mounted I started it up let it sit for about five mins. No codes at all, so I drove her off.. Already noticing improvements!

Nice! I opted for the stealth option as well, tho to avoid the hydrolock I put two 90* bends so the filter pointed upwards in the fender.

You know I was thinking of doing the same thing.. I fear of hydro-locking my engine and I've had quite a few close calls. My only question is that while it's in the engine bay, isn't it going to soak up heat?

Ya to each their own, I like the stock look. Nobody would guess unless they crawled under there and check it out themselves.

I like it as well. Except I tried to keep the bolts in that hold the resonator to the MAF tube.I accidentally cross threaded the bolt on the left side (right side of the car) and found out I don't need the bolts to keep it in place. I actually had to break off the that left tab on the top of the MAF tube just to free it. I don't have any air leaks thank goodness.. but I'm going to want to replace the tubing as soon as I have the chance.

Strange....

There are CARB compliant aftermarket solutions. Not sure why OP (in CA) bailed out of the initial intent to get a CARB compliant setup. There have been sad stories of people getting "caught" during emissions testing/inspections, and having to go back to a stock setup in order to pass.

That setup is better described as an SRI -as opposed to a CAI or the Stealth CAI.

I do not know, but the OP likely has a PZEV -located in CA.
