Exhaust system

I have a 2007 Ford focus ses zx4. I'm looking go put a glasspack muffler on it for the performance sound I'm looking for. I have no knowledge when it comes to exhaust. Is this wise? Or should I just redo the whole exhaust
system?

How far do you want to go? I'd get a 2.5'' ss system, as thats the best way to go.

Would it be wise to go with the street cat-back system?

I'd go w/ the flex back system, like the stealth kit.

A glasspack in place of the stock muffler (especially if you decide to remove the secondary catalytic converter and the resonator in the back) is going to be LOUD. I had that setup for a while and it was just ridiculous, and I like my car loud. Mainly this is due to the tiny 2" exhaust Ford put on these cars. I'd do like Felix said and get yourself a 2.5" "stealth" (two "mufflers" in it) at first, and if you like that, then go for the header. The header/exhaust manifold upgrade will increase some exhaust noise some more and dramatically change the note it makes. I also wouldn't shy away from the less expensive headers like OBX. That's what I have and it works just fine. Just keep in mind you may have to change the header back out for inspection depending on where you live. And you WILL need a tune for that header or you will have a check engine light. A tune will fix that. TOM on here can set you straight for a tune. You won't NEED a tune if you're just going to do exhaust.

This^^^^^^^^ How do they check emmission's where your at? Check for codes? If so you'll be good to go w/ a header & a tune to delete the rear o2 sensor & go for the egr delete also.
