Slowly modding, tips/advice please

I have a 07 zx3. I am looking to slowly put some upgrades in. I just bought the car, first one I've ever bought and will be first car I ever work on.

So far I need to replace my valve cover gasket and figure new spark plugs (My buddy hooked me up with some motorcraft iridiums new), I'm getting some oil in the boot chambers. I've looked around and with the Haynes manual doesn't look all too difficult.

Next I would like to add new intake (thinking Steed CAI) which is more like a SRI if I've done my research right, the MI rain and potholes equals some nice puddles which is why I favor a SRI over a CAI, I'd rather not hydrolock.

Second FSWERKS Race exhaust and header. I like the sounds, (of the exhaust at least) reminds me of my dad's 15 ST.

Then eventually I'll get some new rims and new trunk lift supports.
ANy advice or tips or general discussion, I'd love to learn more or what you think of the mods I have planned.

If you do the header you need a tune first otherwise you might be ruining your engine. I suggest you start with a tune before anything then go from there.

How do you recommend doing a tune? I'm sure there's a how to. Is there a specific thing I'm tuning for like aiming for when I tune?

You can purchase one through 1turbofocus on this site. Its ~400$ (i think a little more) and he does free updates with N/A mods. He will make you a custom tune for your car. He's a sponsor on this site. Thats the first thing I did to mine. If you don't do that/pay for that then I suggest you stick with just a intake and a flex-back exhaust. Those won't change your engine dynamics that much but will be a nice start to the car.

header, cams or FI you NEED a tune otherwise you can survive just fine without one for the most part but you won't get all the power out of your bolts ons without a tune.

For your cam cover= the cover uses a big O ring & come w/ the inside ones for the plugs. The Steeda sri intake works great in rainy cruddy weather vs a cai hanging in the fender well. A a header pass on the race exhaust & have the flasher setup to delete the rear 02 sensor & egr. A set of mild cams will help also.
