$200 steeda short ram,custom short ram...priceless!
ok heres the scoop,my mbrp exhaust should be here tomorrow, and since i dont have all the money right now to buy the k&n typhoon intake,i thought i would take it upon myself to make my own steeda short ram air intake, that would look almost as good just doesnt have all of that bling bling factor, instead looks sort of factory, best thing is this did not cost a dime, even the new filter i got for free.it sounds awesome, and works great, but heres the low down i had to modify the maf sensor a little so it would install in the intake properly, but guess what you would never know, some may call it cheap but i wanted it to compliment my exhaust untill i get my k&n,let me know what ya guys think![thumb]

Looks more or less like the Steeda setup...
What do you mean by you modified the MAF a little though?

No check engine light? Must mean your MAF is happy. I don't see the heat sheild....like the Steeda. It certainly should be better than the factory setup.

no check engine light, the maf flow sensor can only go in one direction,so to make this work i had to flip the sensor around inside the intake so it was facing the same direction as it did on the factory setup, only problem was is that the holes on the sensor for the bolts dont line up,so i had to file down some plastic on the sensor, and enlarge the holes to make it work took a little bit of time but works great now.i dont have the fancy steeda logo heat shield or the fancy aluminum maf housing, but it really looks good in person, just wish i could find a way to put my pics on here that are full size and not shruken.oh well,im going to be working on an aluminun heat shield,to cover the filter i will post some more pics later.

More pics would be great... I think I get what you're saying about the MAF modification.
Oh and if you would like to post larger pictures, you can't attach them, you have to hotlink them from someplace like imageshack.us or photobucket.com. If you run into any snags check out ZX3_Chick's sticky in Showroom or experiment in the Test Center.

Looks like it'll work alright.
Doesn't look as nice as my Steeda, but it's the same concept. [:p]
I always wondered why no one had tried this though.

thanks for the photo tip lil pzev, when i get home from work i will post some better angles and views of the intake, the intake didnt take all but 10 min to complete,i took the upper intake apart and maf housing, cut the maf housing down in size to make it shorter, had to file down the sensor around the mounting bolts so it would face towards the air filter in the correct direction,i used a mtetal strip to bolt the intake down to the inner fender.i will post some more pics that small pic doesnt do it any justice.
