Duratec ECU Pinout

Hi,

I'm from the UK and currently building a Westfield Kit-car with a 2.0 Duratec engine installed. I am after the standard ECU pinout to work out what the feeds, signals and grounds of different sensors are etc.
Does anyone have a copy of this?

Many thanks
Mike

I dont have one but know Ford has and sells them

I have worked with a few customers doing this and if you pick the correct ECU the PATS can be turned off and you wont need the switch and keys from the Focus

I am also building a clubman using a Durance 2 ltr Engine.

I am talking to an ECU manufacturer at the moment regards the purchase of one of their ECU's and I have a couple of concerns before I spend money.

1 The engine is from a 2006 low millage Focus Sports and I do not have the sequence key number for the engine does this matter? Will the engine still start and be programmed?

2 The second thing is that it was my intention to use the fl wire accelerator pedal, has anyone in the forum in this area.

Tom I am led to believe the the ECU that came with the car does not work due to all the interface / interlocks on the Focus that did not come with the engine when I purchased it.I was told if I do not have the Ignition Key, the instrument cluster and some sequence number that I may as well throw away the ECU. I believe that you are telling me that I have been misinformed?

Depends ? Whats your ECU code on some of the early ECU you can turn off the PATS

Even if you cannot turn off the PATS you can get a key and switch put the key in the switch , tie this up under the dash and put your own key and switch in your kit car , if you can go to the junk yard and get the ECU and keys that match then you can make it all work

If the ECU that you have can have the PATS turned off then thats the easiest way to go and when you guy a tune , make a bench flasher ( I can help you with that ) flash the ECU one time with the bench flasher then the rest through the OBDII port

I have done this before for others and it does work but your ECU has to have the PATS in the list to turn it off in the ECU

Tom, thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

My first problem is that I do not have the original key or the switch and I think that is my main issue and as a result I have been told that this renders the ECU useless as a match to the engine.

PATS? i am assuming this is the designed in interlocks that I can switch off by some method?

The engine is from a 2006 model focus.

P.A.T.S. = The passive anti-theft system (PATS) uses radio frequency identification technology
to deter a driveaway theft. Passive means that it does not require any activity from
the user.

The PATS uses a specially encoded ignition key. Each encoded ignition key contains a
permanently installed electronic device called a transponder. Each transponder
contains a unique electronic identification code, with over 72 million billion
combinations.

If you dont have the keys it isnt all lost , you have 2 options
1) go buy another ECU and get the keys with it , if you choose this option make sure you get the ECU code off the stocker first and let me know what it is and I will confirm that the PATS can be turned off in that code
2) use the ECU you have , buy 2 keys and take the car to Ford and have Ford reset the PATS to the new keys

Either way MUCH cheaper the going standalone and much better

Tom

Hi Tom, in the proposed option 2 the scenario is that i but a new ignition switch with two keys and hook everything up and take to ford dealer to rest the PATS. I do not require any sequence number for them to do this? Once the PATS is reset I should be able to start the engine and get tuning done.

Appreciate your help.

Yes , if you have the Keys set to the PATS/ECU by Ford your engine should fire up and run if you have all the wiring done right and ready to start
