No. The gasses being drawn into the engine by the PCV system are the gasses in the crankcase of the engine. The PCV sucks air from the air cleaner, through the crankcase of the engine, into the intake manifold where it is then sent to the cylinders and burned. It is for emissions purposes but it isn't recycling already burned gasses. That would be EGR.

catching the oil? keeps it out of your engine. there's no real benefit.... you wont see any gains at all!

I'm having some trouble with this set up. Throwing a code for high intake air temp, and lean in bank 1. We sealed where the little plastic hose was behind the intake manifold. Then the hose that went to the throttle body was venting to atmosphere (until the catch can comes).

You aren't describing your whole setup, need more info. on routing/what got changed.

Tune would be needed to do this, have you got one already?

I looked at what the mechanic "said he did". He broke the pcv hose when he was working on removing my intake manifold and plugged the part of the manifold it plugs into. I mentioned to him that the plunger and spring would need to be removed to make it an open breather as suggested in the thread. It turns out he stuck a pencil in the pcv valve and tapped it up. So my guess is the pcv system is getting no air and the ecu is metering air for that causing the lean code? EGR is electrically (tuned out) and mechanically (massive egr delete) blocked off.

That's wacked!

Your only crankcase venting is now back up through the head to the hose there.

Prev. post said the valve cover hose is now venting open to atmosphere, that still correct? What about the hole for it in the intake hose?
