Wow nice times, just goes to show that ford did it's home work when making the new stang's. Just think back when the fox came out and was able to hit 14's and 15's they said the boss was back. Now what would they say? lol
In the future ill prolly Procharge it.
$5,500 is not a bad price for 550 whp.
Gonna get an intake and tune from evolution performance as soon as its in stock. Hello 12.50's
Belt driven turbo FTL, Whipple FTW. Look at that again, it's no bargain. By the time you've gotten a tune for high octane fuel, CAI, maybe EX, then go with this thing for a $550/hp increase? You get what you pay for when you get the FRPP Whipple: http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/product.asp?ProdID=1245
Dude. if my focus still ran it would give it to the mustang how ever it wanted it.
After the intake and tune im either gonna get headers or a set of drag wheels and tires.
I dont really want to do any more racing with these tires cuz their hella expensive.
prolly one of the fastest tracks on the east coast.
Lets put it this way. Over the weekend i went up to beaver springs dragway and my best time was a 13.2 at 108 with a 2.3 60ft.
Cecil is super fast. i got a stock zx3 running 15.6 at 86.
Damn, Ford really did it right this time. That kind of power from a stock Mustang around $30k is crazy. Thats what stock Vettes were running just a few years ago.
WOW. I am amazed.
I just drove a new 5.0 for the first time a few days ago (also with the 3.31's and a manual) and it was seriously fast. With even a 3.73, intake, tune, and some drag radials you'd be deep into 11's. This is an amazing car.
I usually hit cecil on wed. or friday nights.
I will be there this friday Nov. 5th. Im pretty sure its the last night of the season.
And yes i was also amazed when i hit the 12.7 at the track. these cars are a whole lot better then previous mustangs its insane.
I picked up a programmer (SCT) with a custom tune from American Muscle so im looking for consistan low to mid 12's this friday but its gonna be cold so it will be tough to hook.
Car now turns out to 7400 and makes power the whole way there. It has CRAZY top end.
Okay be honest here Fi: Your old focus vs. new mustang, which would win a race and which do you prefer?
I would think the significant weight advantage of the Focus (while maintaining virtually identical power figures) would weigh heavily in the little grocery getter's favor. BUT I can't imagine 364whp going through some skinny little tires on a FWD car could hook well in most situations. (Thinking more along the lines of driving around on some public roads than with slicks at the VHT prepped strip).
Overall weight, weight balance, drive wheels, tire size and width, etc... etc.... there are many factors that play into this. What do you think about all of them combined?
(My guess is that I'd prefer the stang. Driveable, reliable, has grip at speeds under 60mph, etc...)
well.
The focus would have given it to the mustang how ever it wanted. dig, roll. wouldnt matter.
The focus actually got better traction that the mustang does becasue i can run low boost (12psi) in second gear then swtich to hi boost (24psi) in third and it wouldnt spin at all from a 40 roll. However. the Focus felt like it had no stability over 100mph and hoestly when ur pushing 364 wheel with the nose of the car facing the sky at 100mph it gets real scary and sketchy.
No doubt in my mind i can run 11.80's all day withthe focus on a slick.
Now the Mustang is a MUCH more fun car to drive. Nothing like hitting 2nd and getting a little sideways. Now with the tune and it being a bit colder i lose traction and go sideways when i hit third at 75 mph...not fun when u dont expect it...
I was a little suprised with the lack of traction these cars have stock. even when i got it when it was in the 70s at night it would spin when i hit second and somtimes spin rolling into first. And launching the car...well iv only gotten 2 good legit launches out of it since iv got it. And iv launched it prolly 20 times lol. I just cant find that sweet spot.
Also the mustang has GREAT control at higher speeds and is an all around easier car to drive.
Even tho the Focus was MUCH faster i would choose the Mustang just because its so much mroe fun to drive...lol
?????
Not sure what u mean by all that.
The procharger kit is 550 wheel with stock everything.
The base whipple kit starts at almost 7k, procharger 4600...
And im staying NA, Comp Cams should be releasing cams here soon. Shooting for 500 wheel all motor. Then if i want to add a supercharger i still can.
There is a new 5.0 down in these parts running just under a 12.6 with only a tune and stock tires. Its auto though. Shooting for 11.8s on DR's, suspension and tune only.
Just a tune for me too
Im about to order a Aluminum Driveshaft and steeda shifter. next season i plan on getting a set of slicks and shooting for a mid to low 11 once the track warms up.
Intake on these cars dont do much for performance till u put headers on.
Also trying to keep it "stock" appearing.
