Well. i see where the time came from anyways. it's not all about power, you can tell the upgrade suspension and stiffer chassie cut you a nice 60 foot and every .10 off your 60 is like .20 on the 1/4. Grats on the time :)

I wish i could get to a track but the nearest track + dyno is 8 hours away :(

It won't leave any deposits and for racing its called a very good idea. the higher octane is a safety factor for detonation and will allow the ecu to run the max timing for 87 fuel since it doesnt see any detonation. It wont hurt anything but the pocketbook.

The ECU will retard timing if it gets detonation.

You're talking out of your rear end a lot, man....

you're thinking of the variable valve timing that the SVT does have, however you would be correct in stating the ZX3 does NOT.

he's referring to spark advance...the ECU controls it to advance or retard spark...this is what works in conjunction with the knock sensor. to an extent, advancing your spark provides more HP, but too much advance with too low an octane fuel, and you get knock. however, some would argue if the stock programming on the ECU is even capable of providing enough advance to make it worth running a higher octane fuel (89 for instance, vs 87)

Well all Im going to say is I have owned my focus since it had 0 miles on the odometer and when i first started driving it i used 87 octane for a few fill ups and then tried some 91 octane and BY FAR the response of the car and the overall performance was alot better than 87. It was more peppy lower in the rpms, faster in the top end and overall it idled and ran better with 91 octane..... I have used 91 ever since and am always using 93 when i drag race... Im not a DYNO but my personal experience I would say 91 is better than 87, in my car at least. ;)
