2.3l v. 1.8t jetta

i always dust my friends 2.0 jetta whos mom has a 1.8t that he hails as like the fastest car in the world cuz it has a little turbo.gunna race him at the strip one day just curious as to what my chances are. hes stock i have intake exhaust dogbone mount underdrive pulleys a tune and by that tiime a header. last run i did was a 16.03 without the tune on almost bald tires. any input? anyone know what1.8ts run stock? i think its the 150hp one either a 99 or 2000.

With the tune and headers, I tihnk you'll smoke him again. The 1.8T's are fast but not that fast.

im with norcalfocus01. Jetta's are heavier cars than your focus. It comes down to power/weight ratio and the driver. I'm pretty sure your going to beat him.

If you're running a 16.03 then you should win. The V6 had 174 horsepower and ran a 16 flat.

The 1.8t is only 150 horsepower so you can imagine it would be much slower.

1.8 ts are one of the slowest stock cars out there. i have/had a stock focus with CAI 5spd and i keep door to door with a stock auto 1.8t. my focus was all bolt ons and i would walk a 1.8t. now im turbod so they would even stand a chance lol

Now i did race the previous gen of the Golf 1.8T at the track several times and he was pretty quick. I think he had basic bolt ons and was running low 15's consistently.

Bench race fail!!! Race him and find out, more than likely with your mods you will beat him, depending on the year it might have 190 hp. Also stock they are crap, especially in auto. If he does about 1000 in mods though he will eat you and your family like you are standing still. Just saying from personal experience the 1.8t motor is not a slouch.
