will it fit?
Was wondering If anyone has run something along the lines of a 26x9.5x16 quick time pro on there car for drag. I'd like to get as tall of a tire under my fenders as possible to help take away some of my traction issue and I can get these at a great price right now.

I'm not to concerned about going lock to lock I would only be using them at the strip, so i would only have to make a few turns so i could get back from the finish line.

For laughs years ago I tried bolting my old Mustang's rear tires on the front of Focus_3XZ's Focus when it was stock. They were 26x10.5 M/T ET Streets mounted on 15x8 Bogart Racing Wheels with 5.5"bs. They just about fit, but due to the backspacing and stock struts the tires hit the spring perch. If they had less backspacing which would make the tires stick out more they would have cleared. Also, if he was running coil overs in the front with the spring perch removed they would have probably fit.

Here are the rear wheels and tires from my mustang that we fitted on his Focus a long time ago

Heres what I mean about running coil overs with the spring perch removed. BTW, the wheels and tires in this picture are NOT from my mustang. Read below for more info on them.

Now that Focus_3XZ's is no longer stock he had a custom set of Bogart Racing Wheels made specifically to his dimensions that are the perfect fit for a Focus. He is running 225/50R15 Hoosier Drag Radials mounted on 15x8 1/4" Bogart Racing Wheels with 6 3/4" bs. The 225/50R15 measure about 24" in diameter and are about 8 1/5" wide. The wheel tire combo fits perfectly without any modifications (no need for coilovers either) and the wheel can be turned lock to lock without any rubbing. They even fit on my SVTF over the large front brakes.

thats a bad ass setup right there.

I have actually decided to just get the hoosier drag radials for my car. i have a spair set of Slipstreams that they will go on. I am also going to try to get some 15" rota slips and see if they clear my break kit. if they do i'll be picking up a set of Slicks as well.

Good choice. Your better off having the smaller diameter 15" rim to increase the sidewall.

See what happens when you ask questions on a real forum? Not FocalJet LOL. I noticed that nobody could really help you out over there. Let us know when you get your wheel/tire setup on the car and how you make out with it. Have you run the car at all with power level in your sig?

BTW the best setup for the hoosiers is about 10-14psi and launching the car at 5-6k. Any less rpm and you will probably bog and any more and it will spin.

I have yet to run it at the track with this setup yet. I'm going to wanm the hoosiers til i hear the tell tail hoosier sign(they sqeek and they are warm) then i'm going to start just rolling off the line to begin with and then gradually start getting more and more into as far as launching is concearned. the way the car hits on boost If i can just roll off the line and have full traction I'll still be movin pretty fast.

I'll deffinatly be keeping people posted

What is your engine setup?

pocus02x3 04-29-2008 12:43 AM

what isn't my engine setup. aside from a ported FR head(i have the head on the car just not ported) and a return style fuel system.

358whp and 338tq.

15x8 with M&H 23x8.5x15 slicks:

I have no rubbing issues at all, but most likely would with a taller tire. I'm hoping to switch to a different wheel (13" for the ultimate fatty tire) with a 25" tall tire in the near future, so I'll pass that bridge when it comes up.

What size backspacing do your wheels have as seem to stick out quite a bit more than Focus_3XZ's wheels which are a 1/4" wider than yours? I'm guessing that they were originally meant for a Honda as they appear to be drilled for a 4x100 bolt pattern.
