Recently bought everything to do the install. Only problem i don't know where to install the Line out converter or what colors what.. can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction
I know you don't think this is much help, but I'm sure you can find them pretty easily in either of the front running boards. The wires running to each respective rear speaker should be in there. They'll generally be a twisted pair. While I don't know the wire colors or polarity, it really doesn't matter. Hook it up and see if it works. Then simply swap the polarity at the amplifier output and listen again. Keep it whichever way sounds best. Done and done.
If you had a tone generator, you could test the wires prior to connecting the LOC. You can also use a AA battery, but DO NOT use a 9V. Just touch the wires to the positive and negative on the AA. If the speaker makes noise, you've obviously tapped into speaker wires.
Sorry I don't have your info man, but I'm sure someone else on here might.
I appreciate it, gonna give this a shot! I have a volt meter should be able to help me out. Gonna at least run wires so i have an idea where i want everything
With a volt meter, you can set it to measure AC voltage. Connect the probes to the wires and ensure they're aren't shorting against each other or metal. Play music and watch for voltage on the meter. Then turn up the music and see if the AC voltage grows also. It's easier to see if you're playing a sine wave.
Connecting an LOC to the wrong wires really won't hurt anything. But either shorting wires together/ground or sending ~8-15V DC down the wrong wires could absolutely destroy things. If you decide to just go for it and connect the LOC to the suspect wires, ensure you do one wire at a time and that you do not short it to ground/anything else. Not trying to scare you, as it's not that hard, but the uneducated blow airbags and fry ECUs every day by doing ghetto stuff like this. LOL
