OEM Sony system owners wanting to upgrade - Your prayers have been answered!
One of the big problems with upgrading the audio system in Focus's with the factory Sony system is the volume control. The OEM amplifier is actually where the change in volume is done when you turn the knob. You cannot take the audio directly out of the factory head unit to run to your aftermarket gear, as you'll lose volume control. But grabbing the audio after the OEM amplifier means you're stuck with all the Sony DSP settings (EQ, crossovers, any time alignment, etc).
WELL NOT ANYMORE!!!
ADS will be releasing a new Maestro module called the "Maestro AR". It starts as a universal module, that you then program to your specific model car. It's able to read the CAN signals which control volume and then connect to your aftermarket DSP/gear. The downside is that it's looking like the DSP you use will need a special port. Fosgate has already unveiled one with the AR actually built in.

FYI, ADS is best known for their remote start bypass modules, steering wheel control adapters and radio interfaces. I've been using their products for years and have been thrilled with them. I've also met several of their reps at shows and they're always helpful, intelligent, informed and have great attitudes. Their products typically destroy anything DEI or Metra has to offer.
No. I don't work for them or really have any affiliation with them. lol
