Adding amp to stock 07 Focus system

Anyone have any tops/tricks how to add the amp below to my stock deck?
Also, is there enough room behind the deck to mount this behind it with all the wiring? I want to keep this install as clean and stock looking as possible.

Kenwood KAC-M1804 Compact 4-channel amplifier ? 45 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com

I plan on getting power from the deck (splicing into it since it only has a 15 amp fuse). I then plan on using speaker level inputs to connect to the four 6x8's (gotta love Ford for choosing a speaker size big enough to push out some nice sounds!).

I was considering getting a new deck, but the car's pretty old and I dont' wanna spend more $$ then I need to. The stock deck still play's mp3's (I know, keepin it old school lol).

thanks in advance

You won't have room in the back of the radio to fit that amp. There is a chance you could mount it on the backside of the glovebox tho. You'd have to measure and see. Thats a pretty small amp so it is feasible. Are you amping the stock speakers?

Short term yes
Within a week or so after that I plan on upgrading all four of the 6x8's to a set of speakers that are 40-60RMS

I've installed that amp many times. Avoid it. The Alpine 445U is the better choice here. If you have to use Kenwood for some reason, then use the M3004. Yes, it's a touch larger. Yes, it's a touch more expensive. But it's night and day the better amp.

It's been a minute since I've had an 07 apart, but I'm pretty sure there IS room under the stock head unit that a small amp could squeeze in. You'll probably have better luck fitting the Alpine anyway.

Thanks for the reply :)

Any particular reason why it's not a good amp? There seems to be a lot of good reviews for it online . And it's also available locally for a pretty reasonable price.

Also, is there any tools/supplies (crimp vs. wire taps?) you'd suggest?
Is there a particular cross member that I should mount the amp or just leave it free hanging behind the deck?

thanks again for all the help...I've installed speakers before, but never attempted an amp before...wish me luck!

To put it bluntly, it's weak. It also has zero adjustments of any kind. No gain. No crossover. Nadda. And it's the same price as the Alpine.

And just so you don't think I'm an Alpine fanboy, I actually don't prefer either. The Kicker PXA3004 is the best of the bunch. It's just quite a bit more money (~$300).

Yeah the M1804 gets fair reviews online. Must be from folks who haven't installed many others of similar size, because I've put in probably 100 Alpine 445U over the years and ~10 of the M1804. The M1804 is weak. Needs to be <$75 to even be worth considering, as the Alpine 445U is ~$125 several places online. The Alpine 445U is the number one selling amplifier, of any shape/size/power level/price point on Earth, for a reason. Performance to dollar ratio in a tight space.

Awesome, thanks for the reply.
I'll make sure to keep an eye out for that amp when I find one available nearby

Best Buy sells it. If you want first-hand opinions, talk to their installers. Not the blue shirts. Go to the install bay and ask the installer's opinion on it. Heck, they sell the Kenwood M1804 too last I knew. Ask them if they've installed both and their opinion on both.

You may wish to try to find an alternate source of power for the amplifier. I say that as the main radio power fuse is 20 amps and since the amplifier in the existing desk will still be used (as you said you were using the speaker level inputs) in conjunction with the new amplifier that may prove to much for the circuit.

Just something to consider at least.

Always go straight to the battery for amp power no matter how small of an amplifier IMO.
