2015 Radio Upgrade

My 2015 SE came with a pretty basic radio. Is it possible to buy a used touch screen radio and swap?

It may be easier to buy a double din aftermarket and go from there. I'm looking into getting an android compatible stereo since SYNC isn't all that great for it's apps.

I'm no expert on the Focus specific systems, but I think there's more to the touch screen than just a fancy user interface. The touch screen would mean you're upgrading to the My Ford Touch system, which includes bluetooth and maybe some different controls/steering wheel controls. I don't know. Just saying there may be some other equipment needed (like an outboard microphone) and all the pins in the harness may not be identical.

If you do decide to go aftermarket, then I can help. :)

Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will smoke the piss out of anything Ford has, FYI.

Changing basic radio to my ford touchpad is possible, but very difficould. I did it. The main problem is that my ford touch has different electric pin arrangement so it required different cables. I cut cables and connect them again.

Did you have to change out any modules or do any programming for it to work properly?

I had to remove sync 1 module which is behind climate panel. It is not required because sync 2 is directly connected to screen. The change is plug and play. I only had to change configuration in Focccus to enable Bluetooth voice.

I've gone from 4.2" Sync 1 to sync 3 and have it all working except for Bluetooth voice. Basically the same so will look at the configuration and I'll check out focccus settings to see what they are at.

Any other settings that were changed?

Does the backup camera still? I've looked at slot of aftermarket radios but every kit says you still have to keep the stock screen plus your new radio. That seems pointless to me
