MFT v3.8 is now available for download

MFT 3.8 is now available for download for vehicles 2011+

From https://owner.ford.com

You have an update available. Please note you will need a USB drive in order to proceed. This update is compatible with A3, A4 and A5 SD cards only. If you're currently using an A1 or A2 SD card, request a new SD card by calling 800-392-3673 FREE.

What is included in this update?

EA5T-14D544-AD Gen2 - V3.8

ABOUT THE LATEST UPDATE

The new software update for SYNC® with MyFord Touch® systems includes all the improvements from previous updates, plus additional benefits such as:

Siri® Eyes Free*:

1.Now iPhone users can use Siri® Eyes Free with SYNC® with MyFord Touch®. With simple voice commands, SYNC® with MyFord Touch® enables you to operate the iPhone and SYNC® together. Siri® Eyes Free can be activated by pressing and holding the voice button for at least 3 seconds.

Secure, simple phone pairing:

1.Phone pairing is now easier.

Automatic reconnection:

1.If your phone disconnects, SYNC® with MyFord Touch® will automatically reconnect it.

Easier entry of destinations for China:

1.Now SYNC® with MyFord Touch® allows for easier entry of destinations.

*Feature requires compatible hardware.

The installation of this update will take up to 30 minutes to complete.

Be sure to keep your engine running (not in accessory mode) throughout the entire installation process. Turning off your vehicle during the update installation will disrupt the process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you begin the installation process, you may drive your vehicle while the update is downloading to your SYNC® system.

If your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start feature, you will need to temporarily disable the Automatic Engine Idle Shutdown (AEIS) component before beginning the installation in order to prevent your vehicle from timing out and shutting off the engine before the software update is complete. To disable this feature, use your steering wheel controls to navigate to the Settings menu on your left-hand Instrument Cluster LCD display. From there, select Vehicle >Auto Engine Off >Off. (If you do not see this setting, there is no need to make any changes before starting the update.)

Alternatively, after initiating the installation, you may drive the vehicle during the update process to avoid shutting off the engine. The next time you start your vehicle, the AEIS will automatically reset to "On."

Please note: During the update installation, SYNC® will temporarily appear to not recognize your mobile phone or media device. This is normal. Once your system has been successfully updated, SYNC® will display a notification stating "Installation complete."

I have this available to me at syncmyride. I'm really happy that they are still releasing updates.

However nothing really here for me unfortunately.

This looks interesting, useless to my android but shouldn't hurt me at all. Hopefully something will take advantage of it with android.

never really thought it was particularly hard but i guess this is good?

Quote:
3. If your phone disconnects, sync® with myford touch® will automatically reconnect it.
is this a common problem? I had problems with previous phones but usually it was because the bluetooth stack had crashed and the phone needed to be rebooted.

i don't think my car will ever make it to china so i don't think this will help me much.

Overall nothing really worthwhile for my use case. But again I'm really happy that they are working on the system.

Anyone have any idea if any features were removed?

Ahh yes, that does happen to me as well. I think I just switch MFT to look for a different phone and then switch back.

Anybody actually install it yet? Comments?

I hope it fixes the volume problem that when you're listening to streaming Bluetooth audio and then disconnect, It blares the radio volume loudly until you can reach for the knob.

They thought of defaulting the volume to 'low' when connecting TO Bluetooth, so it was an apparent oversight that it wasn't done the other way.. Take Care

I installed mine a few days ago. Haven't noticed any changes/updates.

Probably will be the last update now that Sync 3 is out...

i've thought about this being the last update too, except - there are still 2015 vehicles for sale that have Gen2 Sync. and they're warranted for 3yrs, so logically Ford would have to update their Gen2 Sync systems until 2018. whether they make those updates available for older vehicles or not will remain to be seen (even though the hardware may be identical - they might identify the model year or something).

i just installed it, i have noticed nothing different yet.

If you don't have navigation or an iPhone you probably won't notice any changes. Phone connection and reconnection are improved as well.

Reviving this here, but when I login to owner.ford.com (I just registered yesterday), it says I'm up-to-date with version 3.6; update history shows April 2014, the day I picked up the car.

Car is a 2014 Focus ST.

Anyone have any ideas?
