Replacing blown stock speakers 2003 focus wagon

After having my speakers become half blown to where I could only play them so loud, I decided to go purchase new speakers. These speakers ended up being the right size, but did not have the correct wiring harness. So after crimping them onto new connectors and hooking the speakers up, they played
Slightly on the highest volume, but the old speakers still played fine like usual. The stock speaker said 25watt max, while the new ones said 250 watt. Sorry I'm good with mechanics but not the best with audio. So what speakers do I need to get?

Moved to the Car Audio section where more of the Stereo junkies will see this.

Are you saying that the old speakers when hooked into the same location worked fine, or that the other set of speakers still installed were OK & the new ones in their location were too quiet?

(speaker swap to test, or comparison with the other existing set)

Quite a few aftermarket speaker manufacturers are over-rated when it comes to max power ratings. I hate to say it but, I wouldn't plan on running more than 50 watts RMS to each one of them because they will not stand up to it more than likely.

Do as sailor says. Any 5x7" or 6x8" will fit. If I was you, I'd return those speakers and buy some quality speakers from sonic electronix. You can get a pair of Polk Audio db571 for $70.00 shipped to your door.

When the old/original speakers are put into the spot again, they work fine with volume and such, but the new speakers just produce a very minute amount of sound even when the fader and balance is set to that speaker. I'm guessing the new speakers may be too powerful for the stock blaupunkt HU. Thanks for the help with the problem though.

Old stock speakers 4 ohm? As are the new? Might say on the back of the speaker, or test for yourself with a multimeter set to measure ohm.

I'm a dummy and have no idea how to search for this question & answer -jk:

Are the 4-door Focus speakers 5x7 on a 2004 Focus?... front and back doors?... for exact bolt/screw/nut line-up?
