can't beat it for the price, and yes, if you want better quality stuff, they have it.

Here's the replacement sub I'm leaning towards
Kicker 40CWD82
It should fit with no modification to the factory enclosure, and crutchfield tells me it should run off the factory amp with no issues.

Now if I could just get a pair of 6x8's picked out I can get this all ordered this weekend. How do you identify if a speaker requires an amp or if it'll run well off just the factory HU?
At $80 a pair I could just get all 4 of these and do the whole car at once.

^This X's 1000 to the 2nd

Or these, http://store.12velectronics.com/miru...l-speaker-set/

You can thank us later

If you still have the old sub, measure the resistance between the terminals. I think that it is 4 ohms IIRC

Be advised that the stock sub amp does not put out much power(50-100 RMS IIRC). So you need a sub that has high sensitivity like 90 or more.

The JBL GTO-804 is a good choice.

Waterproof is pretty cool. I like the JBL GTO804 sub, over 90 for sensitivity, and depth will be close but should fit the 4.75" depth on the enclosure. Check that off the list. I'm doing some reading on those waterproof speakers now.

sonicelectronix.com has 2 pairs of those kenwood 6x8's and the JBL sub for $179 shipped, wow. That's an even $100 cheaper than crutchfield.

Should I apply the need for 90 or better sensitivity to the 6x8's as well? The ones I've linked are 86.5 but there's a component set that's above 90.

Even adding the adapters for the ford speakers sonic is about $80 cheaper than crutchfield.
If those kenwood speakers are good for a no aftermarket amp application I'll be ordering it all this weekend.

I've read that water can damage the door speakers in the fofo's should I be installing those foam baffles with new speakers?

Just make sure that you cut the bottoms of the baffles out or you will suffocate the speakers.

The bottom being the round bit that would be the lid of a hat, or is that just the side facing the ground?

All speakers ordered, should be here next week. Sonic didn't have the baffles for that size but I'll grab a pair somewhere.

Woo-hoo new tunes
