Well your choice is pretty clear then, however, your install of the MS8 will be a little different from mine because you need to get the wires that go in and out of the MS8 from the front of the car, passenger seat consol area. If you are going to amp everything eventually, you will want to think about placement of the MS8. Mine was easy as the factory amp is exposed and I just attached wires. You might have to run some speaker wire up and down the car (which shouldn't be bad, just hide them under the runners).

What are you looking for your head unit to do?

I didn't really want a head unit at all but considered that route because line out converters aren't much and I thought it would be my only option. If I was going that route though, I wanted navigation and the works. Things I don't need when the main goal is just sound quality and I'd prefer to keep the stock look.

I have the Nav and stuff. But I use my phone for all that. Mount it on the E break. Phone works faster than My Ford Touch. I would start with the LOC and see how it all sounds.

I am looking to add a processor to my system, I had the 6 speaker system but I have added 6.5 comps (ID CXS 62's) in the doors and a 2 channel amp. I will be adding a sub amp and a 10 inch sub in a couple weeks. I was leaning towards the LCQ1 to replace my LOC, will I have the same eq issues? I do not have the factory amped signal that the op had... I am looking to add some eq ability to my system.

I have the LCQ-1 and it's been great for me. A couple others on this forums have written guides where they used the LCQ-1 hooked up to their 4 or 6 speaker system with no complaints.

Wiring Harness or cut the amp wires?

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for this info. I just pulled my MS8 out of a highly modified Toyota Prius installation and REALLY want to install it in my new Focus ST

I plan to keep the Sony stereo Head Unit

However, I can't bear the thought of cutting the wires at the amp

Question: Were you able to buy or construct a wiring harness that would let you tap into the Sony amps Front Lo and Front Hi and SUB speaker outputs or dd you have to cut the wires?

Question2: the Bluetooth "echo" problem that my callers always heard when I installed the MS8 in my Prius (used a Kenwood Aftermarket headunit in there)
always drove me crazy...........are YOUR callers experiencing the MS8 bluetooth echo issue with your install and your Sony Head Unit?
