A member mentioned about having a sticky for the MFT sytem and I thought it was a good idea. Here's the thread for owners to discuss the MFT system, talk about and share issues they are having and to even share solutions. I know there are several MFT threads already out there, but we gotta start somewhere. Please keep this clean as it's going to be for everyone's benefit.
Got this from the autoinstall.lst file. Our last update was 12023, anyone know what vehicle 12094 or 12131 was intended for?

Yeah, I was just kinda goofing around there. Just still trying to find some logic here in the face of an illogical set of circumstances. I mean think about it. mattphoto posted in late-Aug that the dealership told him an update would be available 9/1. For the most part this was true. The dealership probably didn't know it was going to be model-specific but for the most they were correct and one could assume they got that info from Ford. One was released obviously because suss posted a link to it. So if all of this turned out to be correct, why is Ford not letting anyone know? Why doesn't anyone at forums for the applicable models seem to be aware? I'm just having a tough time getting my head around this!
I too downloaded the update but have yet to install it. I think that I will also wait until the official version for ours is released, I'm not overly comfortable with what I'm reading (not that its apparently the end of the earth either).
So it seems that the update is starting to show up for some at SMR and someone started a thread about it over the weekend. They also finally put up my post with the link (the post I submitted several several days ago).
There is also a recent post from the mod over there put up not long ago that reads:
"There is a technical issue with the software update download file on SMR, please do not install. We are working to resolve the issue."
Most expensive radio i've ever bought... and I say radio because that is about all that works right... err nm it doesn't work right forgot it even resets presets.
BTW has anyone checked the value of the car lately? my car has already lost $10k already in just a little over a year.... Atleast Ford is first and fastest in one thing.
It still doesn't even show up for Focus owners. This was a warning for people that had it show up on the update page, people with models the update was officially released for. They said don't install it.
Coincidentally, SMR is suddenly down until 1pm right now.
I made the mistake of plugging my iPhone AND my iPod nano into MFT at the same time.
I usually have of of those plugged in one at a time, and this would be the first time I tried connecting both. What a mistake. I lost all voice command functionality (prompts, feedback and listening) although the interface still showed it was listening. Media player stopped responding to touch input.
Delayedreboot did not help.
Had to do a master reset and lost all my favorites again (at this point entering favorites is just a big waste of time. They will never last).
The semi-unrelated crash seemingly due to an overload just makes me wonder if the problems are not all due to poor programming, but hardware limitations (not enough processing power or ram to store indexes).
Anyways.. it was mid-road trip and I was running late. Having to not only master reset after failing at the reboot, but losing my favorites which not only had my destinations and waypoints in, but my home location, I had to plug everything back in by address. It was [][][][][][]g tedious and infuriating and my passengers (friends) were just laughing that I bought a Ford (I should have listened to their warnings). Of course I could of just as easily sent the destinations from google or mapquest on my laptop as I always have--- oh wait.. none of that works anymore!!!
I've mentioned this on here before and have seen some other people complain about it - but I'm kind of curious if it's an isolated incident or more common...
When you use voice commands to search for a POI, does your system move so slow that the POIs never actually show up on screen?
Mine does this and basically times out before it ever offers any actual choices on the MFT display. Needless to say, it makes the whole POI feature kind of worthless - and defeats the entire point of integrated Nav since I then have to pull out my phone to search for the address. Safety first! [rolleyes]
Or, as I posted on another thread last month, here's a rough play-by-play of how it works:
If I may, I present to you, 'An Average Day with MFT:'
[] "Destination Point of Interest"
MFT "By Name or By Category"
[] "By Name"
MFT "Search Where?"
[] "Nearby"
MFT "POI Name?"
[] "BlarbyBlahBlah"
MFT "Please Choose"
[screen is blank]
[confused] "..."
MFT "Please Choose. Say Line 1 or Next Page..."
[screen is still blank]
[scratch] "...?"
MFT "Please Choose a Line Number. You May Also Say..."
[screen is still blank]
[facepalm] "...?!?"
MFT [beep beep sound that it has failed, music comes back on]
I've mentioned this on here before and have seen some other people complain about it - but I'm kind of curious if it's an isolated incident or more common...

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
or once in a damn miracle, they will come up, and then I say Line 1.... AND IT DOESN'T F[rant][rant][rant][rant][rant]G UNDERSTAND ME.......and then it repeats again and again until it cancels... or I just click Line 1 and it freezes.... [facepalm]
I have never used point of interest. I will try it on my way home. I just started using the sync help to put in addresses. It dials a toll free number (TellMe) and you can search a business and it will deliver the address to your navigation. Anyone else try it this way?
I will have to give it a try and see what inputs it will take. I usually navigate to intersections and long/lat coordinates for my nature photography, which is why the google maps link was so important for me (had all my points saved to a custom map).
Yeah... POI by voice does that pretty much every time it creates a large list. Like it runs out of memory. If you browse a large list either by voice or by touch, it'll do the same thing. More often than getting a blank screen, I'll get the first screen, then I'll say "next page" or hit the down button and it will make a page flip noise but not refresh.
POI navigation is complete garbage. The Nav feature is a complete waste of money.
I's so ticked off with the frustrations (I bought the focus for the nav system) that i was on Amazon researching buying a $300 gps that not only would give me way more features than the MFT, but works as it should. If i wasn't hard of hearing, and relying on car speakers to pump out the nav prompts, I would have done it in the first place. But this MFT Nav system is just a complete hazard to deal with... I have no other choice now.I will have a choice when my lease is up. Bye bye, Ford.
I'm waiting on two software updates that are supposed to happen this month - MFT V3.2 and ICS for my Motorola Atrix 4G. The anticipation is killing me right now.[gunfire]
Might have to keep waiting for one of them. This was posted in the "Sync Announcements" section over at SMR:
"The MyFord MyLincoln Touch 3.2 software, which was shown as being available on certain vehicle configurations this past weekend, has now been removed from the website. If you’ve downloaded this software onto a USB drive, but have yet to perform the update, please do not install it in your vehicle. We will make an announcement when the update becomes available on SYNCMyRide.com."
I recommend video recording all the bugs and crashes and flooding Youtube with them with titles like "My Ford Touch- Sync Crashes again" or "My Ford Touch Sync unusable"
Get the word out that this is quality is unacceptable and users have a voice, and will voice their frustrations on a public forum.
I'm keeping a compact elph in my glovebox to record snippets of crashes and frustrations. Will post to Youtube when i can.
Yeah, I've tried to capture as many as possible to date. The POI one has been hard because it's distracting enough to fuss with MFT while trying to select a nonexistent (on-screen) POI without crashing already! Add recording with my phone while driving to the distractions... [ohcrap]
I totally understand where you are coming from. In one year my system froze three times. I did like version 2 better ... and there are times I wish I did not upgrade.
Yeah, now that I have had 2.11 for six months and 3.0.2 for six months, I can say I would definitely go back to 2.11 in a heartbeat. I would happily send Ford their new Nav card back and sacrifice the 3-D map view to get back the other features and functions that were taken away. All the "upgrade" accomplished was swapping one set of performance issues for another set of performance issues. If I am going to have performance issues anyway, I would rather have them on a nicer looking more functional version than on a stripped down ugly version.
My MFT touch screen is blank (black screen) since last couple of days, I tried the fuse pull (#79 and #67) but no luck, have taken an appointment with the dealer tomorrow, I wish I would not have upgraded to version 3, never had this (black screen of death) issue with version 2.
I ran into an interesting glitch this morning. I haven't checked to see if it has been reported yet, but I'm assuming it has.
I decided to listen to the radio for the first time in a long time, so I switched to FM1 which has all of my presets.
The steering wheel controls would move through the presets correctly, but the center console controls were switching between a different set of stations (possibly AM). If I used the center console buttons to change stations, I had to use the touch screen to select an FM1 station again.
I'll have to see if it happens on the way home tonight.
I haven't had that happen to me, and I listen to the radio a lot since my Sirius subscription ceased (not sure I want to shell out the $ for satellite... yet...). The only issues I've had in regards to radio are the presets not showing (text or numbers) until you cycle around back to FM1 or whatever you were on.
I love it when it works. It really pisses me off when it doesn't work. I work in IT so I dont' find it complicated but sheesh, it is frustrating when it doesn't respond.
My biggest complaint is the navigation, the maps sometimes take forever to show on the screen, all I see is the car icon stuck with nothing showing. Nevermind when you have a route defined and you start the car, sometimes it takes 10 - 15 minutes to show the route, at that point you passed 5 turns already. If it worked as advertised it would be a great thing. I'm really hoping the new update will fix some of these bugs, I don't care about additional features at this point, I just want bug fixes.
Nope, it doesn't apply to the Focus (for sure) or the Escape (I think).
