Wiring side speakers question

Ok guys, got a question for ya.

A few days ago I installed a new HU, its a Pioneer deh-860mp the premier version, awesome deck, and I didnt run into any problems there, that was a breeze. Just a few hrs ago I started to install some new 6x8's. Im not running an amp yet, but I still got these new speakers because the deck is about 30x4rms and 50x4max, and the speakers I picked up are 30watts rms also, with a 150watt max. Im just lookin for a slight upgrade from the stockers.

Now to the question. I started with the rears, got em all out. On the left side there is a white and purple wire, and a white and gray wire, which one is positive, and which one is negative? I couldnt find any wiring diagrams with those colors. Same with the right side, solid gray wire, and a solid white wire. I checked all my spare speakers lying around it seems that the right side of the speaker is positive, so I just went with that and hooked the white and gray wire to positive on the driver side, and the solid gray wire to the positive on the passenger side. Speakers seem to be playing decent, there is a bit more clipping at higher volumes than I expected. Do I have the negative and positive switched around?

Oh, and I just cut off the stock harness and spliced into the wires on the speakers.

Anybody know? A wiring diagram with those colors would be helpfull also, thanks guys.

try the FAQ for the wire colors.

the hu is actually around 13 watts RMS at normal listening conditions though, despite what they claim. most aftermarket hu's do this amount of power or below. not mucfh for driving speakers, it'll clip just as much as if you had your aftermarket hu with your stock speakers but the difference betwee aftermarket and stock speakers in this matter is that they will clear up the high end of the audio spectrum. if you want more clarity at higher volumes you'll need an amp and possibly new speakers.
