Well, the fronts anyway...
I was hoping to get the rears first, for this Sunday's AutoCross event.
I'm not too keen on tightening up only the front at this point in time,
so I'll probably wait till Monday when the rear shocks are due in,
and swap everything at the same time.
Ordered from Tire Rack.
$130 ea plus $12.75 shipping.
Strut part numbers:
RF - 733036
LF - 733037
The struts adjust from the top. That's what the screwdriver is for.
Setting 1 feels pretty close to the stock SVTF struts.
Setting 4...wo! I can barely push it down.
Can't wait to get all 4 on. []
i've got DropZones right now (b/c they were a gift) in a little while i can see set of thos ad dads on my car...... adjustability is good... esp. im MI
Nothing a spray can can't fix....but I know you wouldn't have the patience to let the paint dry before you would want to use them! Ah hell...some contrasting colors are meant to look good.
OK, (and maybe I should do a search. [] )
What all do I need to rip out of the hatch to get to the upper shock mounts?
I was checking yesterday...
Can't seem to pull the carpet back far enough. []
And, I suppose the sub has to come out too... [mad]
remove amp and sub-box. Remove the Top hatch cover (privacy cover).
You will see various plastic screws where the top hatch cover connects to, I think 3 or 4 per side.
There are 2 plastic push/pull screws that hold the carpet panels to the rear seat side panels. Remove them, and It should come out easily.
I've got my new KYB AGX's sitting out in the garage right now. They're going on tomorrow along with a new set of Eibach Pro Kit springs, front camber plates and adjustable rear upper control arms.
It should all work pretty well with the H&R sway bars already on the car.
I'm going to start out with a setting of 2 up front and 4 in the back and go from there. Next autocross is this coming Sunday...I'll have video and pictures!
Nice!!!
Took a 200 mile road trip to test the new dampers.
I am most impressed. This car is quite "tight" now.
I ended up at 2F / 4R for daily driving.
Track testing will have to wait another week. []
But there is a problem...on the front...
I've got mega spring popping noises from the front when doing tight manuevers such as parking.
Didn't notice it at all on the road, but when I went to park the car "pop-crack-boing". Not good.
I swapped left and right springs, to see if I could even out my ride height.
Passenger side was sitting about 1/4" higher than the driver's side.
Is there a left/right spring? I sure don't see it noted.
What about top/bottom?
I can see that the spring is moving on it's seat.
Wheels straight ahead, the spring sits all the way over into the recess in the spring seat on the strut.
If I turn the wheels all the way to the right or left,
the end of the spring will move almost 1" away from where it should be seated.
Nuts...
Anyone had this happen?
Going out to take one side apart, and see if I can't figure it out...
Update...
It appears I have found the problem.
Thank God I took before and after pictures of the strut assemblies. []
I'm completely embarrassed at the moment.
The upper spring cups were installed upside down. [?|]
Sheesh...and I call myself a mechanic of sorts...
So, it took me all of 45 minutes to completely disassemble everything for the 2nd time.
I'll let you know how it turns out this time, but I do believe my problem will be solved.
reminds of of the time I installed new springs and struts on my friends civic, then he calls me up 10 minutes later saying his strut rod is hitting his roof because I forgot the washers.
You will be surprised to find settings 1/2 (front) 1-4 (rear) most comfortable unless you live in an area with nice paved roads and no potholes.
Doug, are you gonna make it to this sundays race? i'm off, so i'm going to make the trip for some fun![] [driving] [race] even though no points, but lots of fun[]
might have my throttle body on by then.

Yes, Thank God that ordeal is over.
Just went on a test run...no more spring noise.
And, as far as the settings...still at 2F / 4R.
Our roads suck...can't see running any stiffer than that for daily driver settings.
