Question Popping noise - suspension?

Hi yall... I hope this is in the right place, if not let me know and I can move my question... My problem/question: problem: I noticed a popping noise in the front of my car and it sounds more like the passenger side, it only happens when I start my car then when changing gears (manual trans). But if I change gears really easy (pushing in and letting out on clutch really easy) it don't pop but if I change my gears normal it does the popping, and just a bit ago I realized if I push the gas and let off it does the noise when I push the gas then when I let up off the has kinda like just giving it a goose... Yall think it could be an engine mount or sway bar problem??? I'm hoping yall can tell me so that when I go to the shop I can point them at the problem right off the bat. Yes I'm a gal but my daddy was a mechanic and I kinda have an ear for things, especially on my 05 focus zx4 ST! Hope I have explained it good enough so yall can help me diagnose my baby! Thanks in advance for any info or advice yall can send my way! From: Squbbles

Just to add to what I asked... Wednesday I took my passenger side wheel off and I took off my sway bar to see if it was bad.... One end had a little play in it and was kinda easy to move, not real easy to move but I could move it... So I greased both ends and put it back together... It still makes the popping noise once in a while but not nearly as often as it was. Also I took my radiator resavior tank off to check out that motor/engine mount buy it seemed to be ok and not loose, but I didn't have a cherry picker to raise the motor. Buy I took my sockets and tried to tighten the bolts but they all seemed tight. And also I took the battery out and the battery box out and under was the trans mount and I tried to tighten it and it seemed to be tight also. Even tho the noise seemed to be coming from the passenger side I still checked the trans mount on the driver side lol so that's where i stand now lol

I'd say its the sway bar end links. For checking your psm grab a 2x4 & place it on a floor jack saddle & place it under your motor on the ps w/ a slight pressure & start your motor & see if that makes a difference. How many miles?

Thank you so much for your suggestion! she has just rolled over to 222k :-) almost to the record miles i had on my 92 dodge colt when she laid down on me! hopefully my Pepper wont lay down for a while yet! anyways, should i leave the wheel on to try what you suggest? im going to get into changing my rear brakes in a bit... hoping a pair of vice grips will take the place of the special tool ppl are telling me to get... growing up i was always in and out of my dads car parts store and i always heard him telling ppl ways around things and i picked up a lot.. since my dad is gone im depending on myself a whole lot more to do my work... which he taught me its ok to get dirty and greasy and not to be afraid of tools! I have always enjoyed working on my own car! lost my dad outta the blue 2 years ago to a massive heart attack.. he was only 58 years young.

thank you so much! not many places i can get ppl to talk to me about working on a car! ticks me off to go into a parts store and know exactly what i need and them just look at me like im stupid.. just because im a girl dont mean i dont know what im talking about on some things.. went into a popular place for car parts a couple towns over and for the life of me i couldnt get help on a item i was looking for so i left and not going back there again lol! But thanks tho for helping me out! it means a lot! of course i grew up a tom boy lol

Since greasing the end link helped with the noise, and one end seemed a little loose, I think you found the noise source.

Grease up the other side & see if that helps more.

Thank you so much Sailor!!!! She's been doin fairly well! Only a pop now and then but not too often! My hubby drove her yesterday and said she may have a bad tire, as in a knot on one of them... I told him I think so too cuz it the way it rides and especially when goin slow I can feel that something ain't right. Hopefully it's just a bad tire. But now I'm having battery/alt (one or the other or both ) I gotta find a thread about it and how to get to my alt if its bad .... I went n tried to jump my moms old car and her battery was deader than dead and since then my car ain't actin right at all! My gauges stopped working and my radio stopped too and my ac and she just wasn't wanting to start by key so I roll started it by rollin n popping the clutch.... And it still didn't wanna stay running :-( can u maybe point me toward a thread on what to do n how to change out my alt? I got a batt charger on her now... Idk if that's gonna help or not....
Btw... I'll be ordering m new chrome wheels soon! Can't wait to show her off! Lol!

Thanks again for all your help!!!!!

Try a fresh thread in General Tech Chat for the most looks at the current issue.

Electrical problems after jumping another car, I'd look first at your battery terminal connections. They could be corroded already & clamping to them can loosen them by movement causing trouble right away.
