Small Camber Plates and issues installing spring to strut... grrr!!!

I've never done work on struts, so bear with me. I have 2 small camber plates (I assume that's what they are) on each strut. They were on the old struts (KYB G2) Do I need them when assembling the new strut and spring?? I dont have enough thred to get them on with the bearing/spring plate/mount. Are these even a stock OEM part??? I'm also have trouble getting the spring to sit right on the strut. The coil spring is compressed, but I have to push down on the strut to get the mount and seat on. I get the top nut on, release tension on the spring compressors but the spring flops around... What am I doing wrong???? Please help, I only have a few hours of daylight left!!

A pair of plates could be the type that work with one particular aftermarket top mount, they sandwich on the mount & have a rectangular hole in them for adjustment.

That's the only application for a pair of plates I can think of.

That's exactly what they are. Flat, with offset hole and a square hole next to it. I went forward without them. Also got the spring seated correctly in the strut. I'm now on the other side but stuck since the the 17mm nut that goes on the strut top is so seized. Its rounded now since I've been trying so hard. About to bust out the grinder... Just need the spring and spring seat... Fun fun!!

Go with the grinder since you're trashing the old struts, no point saving anything that's going to the scrap.

I ended up with a pair of mounts that use those plates in a package deal, set them aside for future use & eventually realized they were useless with only a pair of plates for two mounts. (not a good rep. for them anyways)

All done!! Straight forward project besides the seized top nut. Now just gonna put on my winter rubbers and run it around the block. Then tomorrow off to Ford for an alignment.
