I recently took my ZX3 to the dealer to have the interior light dimmer wheel switch replaced. I mentioned to the service guy that I thought my rear brakes were applying unevenly and they were ringing. To my surprise, they replaced the brake shoes under warranty. It solved the problem.

your brakes r fine...its just the shoes rub and with brake dust on the backing plate...it squeaks, cleaning them and throwing some white lithium grease where the shoes touch will stop the squeak for a while....to get rid of it, grind where they touch and then grease

Just took my '03 ZX3 in for hte same problem... it only has 10,000 mi on it... it would squeal when I came to a stop and only on the pass. side. The dealer said there was excessive brake dust.. they cleaned the brakes and its quiet now... we'll see... No brakes should squeal after 10,000 mi. though They covered it under the warranty..... BTW they will only cover it until you reach 12,000 though.

another fix is to rough up the brake drum with course sand paper. that will fix it for awhile.
