Traction control and stability. A rare option

My 02 ZTW has it. It's crazy as you slam into a turn, only to have the car decelerate and brake all by itself as you coast through. I've been lucky enough not to have it kick in because of an emergency, but it's good to know exactly what it does. I just flick it off when I want to test tire limits...this also kicks off the traction control as well...works great for me.

My "Street Wagon" is Advance-Trac equipped, too. It was an internal FoMoCo executive cruiser, and whoever specced-out mine originally checked ALL the option boxes [except for the 5-speed transmission :( ] I read somewhere that Advance-Trac was discontinued on the Focus because only ONE PERCENT of Foci were ever ordered with this system, which is a shame for the masses without it. I just bought the car, and the system has only come into play once so far. With Advance-Trac and a nice, chunky set of Hakkapeliittas, I expect she'll be an absolute WILD ANIMAL in the snow next winter! When you're a family man, safety is SEXY!!!

The advance trac was an expensive option. I almost bought a ZTS with it, but it had a sticker near $19000 (5-speed, leather, moonroof, 6-disc, and dealer installed Altezza's). When I had my suspension installed on my ZTS, the suspension shop wanted to make sure I didn't have advance trac. They said it wouldn't function properly with my eibach dampers and they had some waiver they would need me to sign. Luckily, I didn't have advance-trac so there was no problem. Although I've heard good things about in slick conditions.
