Smile SVT suspension into ZX5 questions

I just picked up a 2003 ZX5 with 28k miles.

I'm quite pleased with the car. Good acceleration with the 2.3L despite the auto (couldn't convince the wife to let me get a stick shift), and very good balance of ride and handling.

I'm thinking of getting Koni yellows and good tires, either Kumho MX or Yoko ES100's. (The rear shocks feel a bit underdamped). And maybe something to make the camber adjustable. It's so comfy yet handling is very decent, so I don't think I want to go with stiffer springs, unless, maybe, H&R make OE Sports for it... those are the mildest aftermarket springs I know of, with a small drop.

What handling mods are good with MINIMAL impact on ride? I want this to remain a comfy car. No I don't want to slam the car, no I don't want to spend for coilovers, no I don't want springs with 2x the factory rates. Ideally I want it to be like an SVT.

Speaking of which, anyone know the spring rates and swaybar sizes and ride height on an SVT vs. a ZX5?

Just get the SVT suspension kit...$275(ish) gets you the springs, dampers and rear anti-roll bar from the SVT. Its probably the best deal you'll find on suspension going by preformance vs. cost. Most of the usual retailers carry it; McNew's (www.mcnewsautomotive.com), New Edge Performance (www.newedgeperformance.com) or My Ford Performance (www.myfordperformance.com) among others...

I am very impressed with the ride/handling compromise struck by SVT. I have read a single motor journalist who thought that it would be hard to live with the firm suspension. I live in an area with rough roads, and commute 40 miles a day, and as I stated earlier, I am pleased. The SVTF uses 45 series tire. I imagine a higer profile tire would have an even less impact harshness.

Wow, I'm thrilled, <$300 for SVT springs, shocks, and rear sway?? Is that all that makes the SVT suspension special? I take it the front swaybar is the same? Are the components the same for the 4 and 2 door SVT? Who makes the SVT shocks?

And $34 will make the rear camber adjustable? Very cool.

Thanks all for your replies, and welcoming a newbie!

Not entirely sure on the front anti-roll bar, that could be part of what keeps the price down. It fits all Focus models except for the wagons (I believe...) I also believe that the suspension is made by Ford, but don't quote me on that, it could be made by someone else and relabeled as Motorcraft parts.
