yea well the bad thing is i have many bad roads around here so do you think its possible to go 225 40 17?

or would that actually be worse for me? I have no good knowledge on tires, since i havent worried about them ive already forgot what the 225 and the 40 are lol

225 is the width of the tire in mm, and the 40 is the treadwall height, 40 being 40% of the width. you could probably run 215/45's as well.

You should go with either a 215/45/17 or 205/45/17 setup, in my opinion, if you are worried about pot-holes and rubbing issues. Also make sure that you have an offset between 42 and 49 (I believe that is the target zone you would want to look for).

Cheers!

imprtslyro223 is correct. In his example the 40 is the aspect ratio and it means the sidewall height is 40% of the tread width. If the tread is 225, the sidewall will be about 90mm (+/- 3.55 inches).

215/40 won't rub unless you have the wrong offset. i've ridden in several focii with the H&R race / koni or H&R / GAZ setup and they all run 215/40/17 no prob. 205/45/17 shouldn't give you any problems either, and will actually put you closer to original rolling diameter, meaning your speedo will be less off. the trade-off is that you lose that extra 10mm of contact patch.

Mike

PS - i have pics of my zx5 or my brother's zx3 with this setup....somewhere. let me know and i can put some pics up if you like.

enjoy:

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

this will help you with all your questions regarding size. as far as pics go of the 205/45/17 with this suspension, i don't have any. sorry. i only had that size on there for a few days with the new suspension before i got rid of the tires (long story).

215/45/17 MAY be pushing it, but i'm not sure. yeah, that's stock size for an SVT, but SVTs have a different wheel offset (49mm?) that shovers the tire further into the wheelwell. i've seen SVTs with stock suspension and aftermarket wheels rub slightly with 215/45/17 tires, so i'm always cautious to recommend it as a go-to size.

Mike
