SVT Fail

So I was installing my new Russell stainless brake lines and speed bleeders tonight. Got the rears done alright though its not a job I'd want to do twice. The collars on the hard lines are all seized so i had to spin the lines themselves. It'll be going for new lines in the spring. The fronts were a whole other animal. I put the car up on jack stands and went to remove the bleeders and managed to snap both of them off . They were wicked corroded but given I got the rears out fine I was hopeful and I even let them soak in some penetrant before attempting it. Sigh. Now it looks like I am going to be ordering calipers tomorrow and the Focus will be down til they come in. Feeling deflated a little but that's life I guess.

Learning experience I guess....

If you snapped the bleeders off B4 removing the lines you could have driven it 'till the new calipers came in.

(not rubbing salt in the wound, it's just a lesson we've all learned or WILL learn some day)

Might try a drill, easy out, and a heat wrench (torch) on those old calipers - sometimes works easier than you'd expect when the end of the nipple snaps off.

yea i realized after the fact that the bleeders were still sealed even though they were broken. Learning experience is an understatement lol. Oh well. The project is complete and I have shiny new calipers so I guess the day was a success of sorts.
