Lower Ball Joint Pinch Bolt size.

In the process of installing new front bearings in my 2003 Zx3. Of course like many I've done in the past (mechanic) they were seized. However I've always been able to remove them without damage via heat and patience. However not the case this time. Ended up having to use my air hammer to pop them out. Needing to get a replacement and having trouble finding the correct size.

Currently using an undersized grade 8 bolt however this is only temporary and don't want to test the limits of a bolt.

So needing a part number for the bolt, or a suitable size/pitch bolt for replacement.

Wasn't able to call any dealerships around due to being Sunday. However ended up ordering the bolts. Had to buy a 4 pack of them. So I'll have 2 extras.

Problem I was running into was that they taper down at the threads. Main shaft of the bolt was approximately 10.6mm. Threaded area was 9.6mm which is a very nontypical taper.

Glad you actually noticed the taper, some people have put regular bolts in there and had the ball joint pop loose because it didn't have the special tapered end.

The ball joint pinch bolt is a M10x59mm with a T50 torx head. The nut is an M10 flanged nut. It probably doesn't matter whether it's a torx or standard hex head as long as you get at least a grade 8 (better yet, 10.9) bolt/nut.

Edit: I made this thread a little while ago which has a whole bunch of specs for almost all of the front suspension bolts and nuts: Focus MK1 front suspension bolt specs
