Good shocks for H&R Sport springs

I am almost positive i want to get the H&R sport springs for my car. I have heard to Tokico shocks are good but they are also expensive. What would be some good affordable shocks for this much of a drop?

The sad truth is that you're not going to find too many quality performance shock for a 2008 Focus. Tokico (Blues) would not be my first choice either (they're actually an affordable OE replacement shock but aren't known to match well with performance springs). If you think these are expensive wait until you see the prices of some good shocks.

There's more selection available for 00-05 Foci. These can be used on 06+ cars but will require the Omni Kit from Massive for proper fitment. If you go this route you also have to use springs for 00-05 to properly work (fit) 00-05 struts.

Koni Strts would likely be a good match for the H&R sport springs but they're only available for 00-05 as far as I know and would require the Omni Kit to use on your 08.

The link you provided doesn't work for me but I'm assuming it's for the FRPP strut and shocks. They may work if the H&R springs have the same (or are close to) spring rates as the FRPP springs (which those struts and shocks are designed to be use with). I've never see the spring rates (only guesses) for the FRPP springs or the H&R Sport Springs for that matter.

i'll just comment on this one real quick not to go against geezer's knowledge. i think i am now the only one running an H&r sport, tokico hp combo. Someone else had them on here but i don't think he has his car anymore. or he just doesn't come on anymore. I have to say i bought my tokco's used with either 5k or 10k on them (i'm not to sure) so far i've almost put 20,000 miles on them. i made a switch 5,000 miles after from eibachs to the H&R's and even when i almost destroyed my shocks they still work great. i'm not gonna say the ride quality got better because it didn't. but it's still barable even with the craptastic roads of norfolk. and even with this drop it still works great. i mean, maybe i should bite my tongue now because i'm getting into the "20,000 mile's of doom" limit but i think they will last me even longer.

this is the eibach/tokico hp combo

this is the H&R/tokcio hp combo

they aren't the same spring design (the springs i had on before were from an 06) but you can see how much shorter the H&R is to the eibach

my car compared to one with eibachs/stock dampers

my car compared to a stock focus

like i said, great setup for dd. just don't know if they are going to blow anytime soon. doesn't feel like it but who knows. haha

Does anyone know if the spring rates are close enough and if they will work?

There are a lot more suspension choice's w/ '00-'05 cars. To use these you will need the "omni kit". Like its been said before you have to match the lowering spring w/ a proper strut. Like a Koni yellow, it costs more, but you will not have issue's down the road. There isn't any free lunch after 1''-1.5'' drop spring's. Either way your going to pay w/ any spring lower then a 1.5''= You can pay me now or later. I have no problem's using the spring compresser & a impact wrench.
