Help ID a suspension part

I noticed a lot of noise (knocking banging) coming from the front left wheel well. Jacked up the car and saw this. . .

What is the yellow piece?

Would this part being out of place cause all the rattles and knocking?

I have a replacement dust cover but I need the yellow piece. It says "made in germany" on it so I'm guessing it's from my Eibach Pro-dampers. Didn't install them myself so I don't know.

Thanks for any help.

I think that's your bump stop.

^^ It is. There should be a part number on the product but it looks like it would be hard to read so I just gave you their phone number. Though that bump stop may be the original one.

Looks like you need a new bumper stop, and maybe the dust boot. This might cause some noise, but not a metallic sound. You may find some other problem when you take it apart.

This is not an easy job to do in your driveway. You need a special spring compressor, and an impact wrench to remove the upper nut. Whatever you do.....don't take the upper center nut loose without the spring being compressed. People die doing that....

Might be a nice time to get new struts.....those other pieces could be replaced at the same time without any additional labor charges.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Bump stop was what I was thinking but I'm no expert and like I said, I didn't install the suspension.

I can read, "Made in Germany", on the part in question so that tells me it's from Eibach.

I'm hoping the strut plate doesn't need to be replaced and that the noise I'm hearing is from the yellow piece being out of place and allowing things to move around that would otherwise be snug.
