R-Compound options in G Stock

Hello all,
I have decided to move up to real race rubber on my SVTF, but I have come across a problem. The SVT wheel is 17 X 7.5 inches (I believe), and while I can, and plan to, replace the wheels with lightweight rims I cannot change the sizing and stay legal for G Stock. And yes I know that they wouldn't check and that I could get away with it, but I am not interested in cheating.
Anyway, it seems like all the best race tires out there (Kumho V710, Hoosier AS305) don't come in those sizes. I can't win in GS on my Azenis, as good as they are, and I really want to step up. Does anybody know what I can get that will be a top-performing race tire that will fit on my rims?

Thanks racers!

Stock SVT rims are 17X7 @ 49mm offset.
Technically, 42.64mm is the minimum offset you can run legally. +/- 1/4" offset per the rules.
235/40/17 is about as much as you're going to be able to fit on a 7" rim.
That's what size FF member GaryK is running.
I believe they're Kuhmo VictoRacer 710's?

Tires?
Good question.
I just ordered a set of the new Hankook R-S2s, which are getting some pretty decent reviews on SCCAforums.com.
Though, they're not going to get you much performance over the Azenis.
Unfortunately, I'm not up to date on the R-compounds, as mine are going have to do double duty as street and track tires for the time being.

Our rims are 17x7 and I think you should be fine with a 225/45/17 size. Especially if you have race rubber that's possibly shaved. I know the 225/45/17 size is pretty common. Good Luck.

I ran 225/45/17 Victoracers on my SVTF and I flippin' loved 'em.

I wish they would have fit on the MSM, I never would have let 'em go.

That was pretty much the consensus at sccaforums.com. Those or the Hankook Ventus's. I had just heard some people talking crap about the Victoracers so I wasn't too sure, and it seems that they aren't on the same level as the Kumho V710s or the new Hoosier AS305s, but those both have a 8" rim width minimum.

Maybe I'll just invest in Evolution Autocross School first... should do that regardless. I also don't know if I am going to have the SVTF next summer. With some of my business deals poppin I would really like to get a Porsche 968.

I dunno, half the time I just want to max the Focus out, the other half I think about what I could get for the balance of the Focus + mods...
