225/45R17 Autox Rub?

Yes I searched this but not much pertained to racing. My mom got new tires on her BMW, so I got the old 225/45s off her car. I know they will fit the SVTF rim and won't rub under normal driving, but does anyone know if they will rub when the suspension is under load, e.g. autocrossing?

Yep, Continential ContiSport 1s, factory. Michelin Pilot Sports are optional. The Continentals are obviously not the best tire available for autocrossing, but as WD40 said, you can't beat the price! I plan on just using them up, then I'll get some racing compound somethings.

My stock Contis have been just fine on the course,
though dedicated R compound tires would provide some improvement.
One thing I've noticed, is the more these tires wear, the faster they are on the track.

Yes!!!

They WILL rub. I run Victoracers in this size and I get rubbing on just about every corner.....

You won't notice ( as I didn't ) until you really start to push the car, but they will indeed scrape a bit, though I have not seen any damage, and it only happens in really hard cornering. Eeven when I'm running my Koni's at full firm.....Time for stiffer springs, but I don't know if I want the stiffer ride on my daliy driver.

For example, in this pic, I was indeed rubbing, lol.....

Thats good news to hear WD40. I figured the tires wouldnt hold up to well on the track. I was just planning on shredding some free tires for a few runs. How long have you had your tires (miles/races)?

^^^12,000 miles, and 15 events^^^
Most of the events I ran 4 times, and a couple I ran 6 times.
About evenly split between a short course, ~50-55sec, and our road course here in Helena, ~1:40-1:50.

FWIW, they're getting close to the wear bars.
I'd guess I've got about 6,000 miles left at my current "usage" rate.
If I didn't use them on the track anymore, I'd guess that number would almost double.
