If I'm not upshifting to 2nd, I'll run it right up to 7,600 (which is where I set the limiter).
If I am shifting to 2nd, then I try to shift between 7,000-7,200.

It's all trial and error on the course.
Usually the first run is a "feeler", and I short shift to 2nd just to stay smoother.
Doing that will help me determine when and where I may gain time by staying in 1st or downshifting to 1st.
By the third run, I've usually got my shift points (or lack thereof) figured out.
^^^Unless we're in Helena, and I need to get into 3rd gear here and there.
Yeah...not quite AutoCross speeds, but I'm not going to complain.

The 10th in pax was on a course that I never left first gear. The only other car that ran it all in first was a SVT Contour. I will down shift when possible. Need to be careful because shifting costs time. The courses that kill me are the ones with corners to fast for a down shift then into a straight. As WD40 said, wheel spin is a factor in first. And answering questions here is fine with me also. That way if I say something not quite right I can be called on it, still consider myself learning with front drive.

well i applied some of these things & i placed my highest in PAX i ever have!
i still lost my class to the 2.5 RS, but he paxed 3rd overall ha.

well the time has come to get a suspension kit for my svt. i had my sights set on the koni yellos&h&r race set up, but talking with local racers in my class, mainly the guy that owns my class (ST) and asking what type of suspension he had, and he said he was on coilovers. .
after reading the ST rules, to me it seems this is an OK mod to do.

so my question is, with the price of the koni/h&R set up being around 700-800 bucks, would it be wise to save a lil more and get coilovers? or is this not a good move with the focus?

if so, which coilovers would you go with? i've been doing some research and it seems the H&R coilovers are pretty damn solid, then you have the kws v3s.. those are pricey. but are they better for racing
