Do you want a car specific one , or just any old helmet? Second , brands dont matter that much , no helmet is the clear best , the one that fits you properly is the best.

Snell M2005 helmets will be found at most motorcycle stores and now (winter) is the time to buy. Last winter I picked up an open face HJC at the local motorcycle shop for $69. I think it is even more comfortable than my Bell Mag 4 which cost twice as much. So, go to a motorcycle shop and try them on.

Ya, i second that you shoulod just go in and try them on. I know that here was only one brand that fit my head shape (and let me get glasses on comfortably). Also I found that the helmets were cheaper than i expected.~150$ for a M2005 (full face motorcytcle helmet)

A lot of sanctioning bodies will NOT allow a Snell SM rated helmet, which is what motorcycle helmets are. Most auto racing requires Snell SA approved helmets.

^^^^ True, so check with who ypu are racing with. Many do not care, but some do. The helmets are almost the same, often the sa helmet has a fireproof liner as the motorcycle ones do not.

Go to a shop and , as others have said, find one that fits you well, and you find comfortable. Then, actually buy it there and support that business. I know its an odd concept here on the web, but give it a try.LOL

www.RacerWholesale.com has good prices as well. G-Force is making some pretty good helments at reasonable costs. While M rated helmets meet many autocross requirements. If you want to go lapping or participate in rallycross an S rated helment is usually required. Grassroots Motorsports magazine usually has lots of ads for safety gear (REALLY good magazine by the way). Get it at Barnes and Noble or Borders.

The more I've paid, the more I like it, but my inexpensive $250 G-Force works great!
