I'm going by what our installer said. He does both products and has 3M on his car, but says in the future he would go with Xpel because it's less maintenance. Also the Xpel isn't supposed to turn colors and if it does the 10 year warranty covers replacement. Cost is about the same. He did say on black cars the film is much more noticeable than other colors regardless of brand.

You can wax and polish the film like any paint. Just put blue tape around the edges to keep the wax from getting in the seams before you apply. The 3M Ventureshield stuff also has a lifetime warranty.

Xpel

Burns098356GX,

Wrapping the entire hood in one piece is possible. Wether you have a smaller hood, or a large hood, it can be done.

XPEL film? I just got a cf hood but have not installed it yet as I want to put a clear film on it to protect it. Have been considering using one of the paint protection films or the 3M film spray.

I took a look on your website. Do you have any other authorized dealers in Ontario besides the one listed? Ottawa is a long haul from the London area.

So you have a local factory installation center here in Houston....nice. But you website only goes back to 2010. No earlier models listed. Also no prices listed for the cars you do cover. What about just wanting to do my custom cf hood? Guess I would need to come by to get a quote?

Are these films known to yellow over time?

What about waxing? Should i wax the paint before having film applied? Can i wax the film after?

When using film do not wax. Just make sure the surface is clean. If doing a hood you could even claybar it if needed. The smoother/cleaner the surface the better the bond of the film. And it shouldn't yellow.
