3M Paint Defender

Anyone tried 3M Paint Defender? It looks pretty easy to apply and much cheaper than getting a clear bra.

Interesting. Looks easy enough but I wonder how it would actually compare to the clear bra vinyl film. I would think the film would be much thicker compared to the defender spray coating and could resist rock chips better.

Just found this, looks pretty legit. I may try this some time.

Was going to try the clear film for my cf hood but I think I will go ahead and try this since it appears to be super easy to install compared to the vinyl and the whole kit is only $45 which is a lot cheaper. Cool thing is my hood isn't even on my car yet so this will be a breeze to do.

That's pretty interesting. I've been halfway thinking about coating my front end with plasti-dip for the trip to FF, but if this is pretty clear it could negate having to remove it while I'm there...

I've read a couple reviews on this so far and one review said it took several cans to get a thick enough coat, to where you could peel it off. So I guess it's kinda like plasti-dip. I would think this would be easier for the curves and such, but almost as expensive as clear-bra if you have to buy 5 cans. I also read there's a newer version coming out. I might wait for that.

I can dig up references if anyone wants (I think just the auto-zone website since that and Amazon are the only places you can buy it right now).

I'm curious about this product too at least for the hood (also considering the Magna-bra for road trips) and if I just buy the gun and a few cans of the stuff would keep it a bit under $100 and probably cover the whole nose that's painted body color for much less than a whole clear bra would cost and probably even do the mirrors.

Or you could buy the 3M clear bra vinyl by the roll for cheap.

For roll vinyl I would need at least 60"x 18" minimum. My cf hood has a front scoop/vent within 12" of the front edge of the hood. I would need to go a little past the scoop. And the scoop also creates some challenging curves but doable. Just might be a pain though.

I bought some last month... haven't tried it yet... I think it's a nice, temporary idea for those that don't want to go with the vinyl clear bra...
